Have you ever used a typewriter?
I started learning to type at a young age when I got my first computer. My favorite program was Print Shop, and I enjoyed creating personalized designs. However, I later realized that typing quickly and accurately could be useful in various areas of my life, so I focused on developing my typing skills in high school. It has proven to be a valuable skill that has helped me be more productive and efficient, and I'm glad I started learning at a young age.
How is social media changing news?
Social media is changing the news landscape in several ways. Firstly, it has become a primary source of breaking news, with people turning to platforms like Twitter and Facebook to get real-time updates on events happening around the world. Social media has also given a voice to people who may not have had one in traditional media, allowing them to share their perspectives and opinions on various topics. However, the rise of social media has also led to an increase in fake news and misinformation, making it more difficult to distinguish between credible and unreliable sources. Overall, social media has had a significant impact on how news is shared and consumed, and journalists must adapt to these changes to remain relevant and trustworthy sources of information.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
I didn't go to school for journalism or anything like that, but I know how important it is for us as Black folks to have our own voice in the media. For too long, mainstream media has ignored our stories and our struggles. That's why I created Black Cannabis Magazine, to provide a platform for our voices to be heard. We talk about everything from the latest strains and products to the social justice issues that affect our community. With the legalization of cannabis spreading across the country, it's important for us to have a seat at the table and be part of the conversation. Our stories deserve to be told, and with Black Cannabis Magazine, we're making sure that happens.
Who do you wish followed you?

Building a strong network by attending industry events, joining professional organizations, and connecting with other journalists and media professionals is crucial for staying informed and finding new job opportunities. It's also important to stay curious and informed about what's happening in the world, be persistent in the face of rejection, and embrace new technologies and platforms to stay relevant in the constantly evolving media industry. Pursuing a career in journalism can be rewarding, but it requires hard work, dedication, and a commitment to staying informed and curious about the world.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
Some people have criticized my focus on celebrity journalism, saying that it could hurt the credibility or legitimacy of our platform. However, I think that celebrity coverage can be valuable and interesting for many people, and it helps our platform grow in terms of SEO and audience reach. While I do try to balance my celebrity coverage with other types of news and features, and report accurately, fairly, and responsibly, I'm always open to feedback and willing to adjust my approach if needed. Ultimately, the success of our platform depends on many factors, including the quality of our reporting, the interests of our audience, and the trends in the media landscape, and I believe that by staying responsive to feedback and attuned to these factors, we can continue to grow and evolve over time.
