Heather Hunter’s Biography

Heather Hunter has been managing Washington, D.C.'s popular morning-drive show on 105.9 FM / AM 630 since she joined WMAL in 2010. Heather is a veteran radio, television, and film producer. She has produced three top ten nationally syndicated radio programs: “The G. Gordon Liddy Show”, “The Laura Ingraham Show” and most recently, “The Lars Larson Show.” In addition, she produced the top Orlando morning-drive talk radio program 540 WFLA’s “The Shannon Burke Show” and various shows for XM Satellite Radio. She has been working in media for 20 years. She started her career as a radio host on an alternative rock radio station in her hometown in 1998.

She moved to Washington, D.C. to work as a television booker for Fox News Channel, where she produced “Fox News Live” and “Weekend Live with Tony Snow.” She also has produced numerous documentary films hosted by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and Dick Morris (she produced the film Hillary the Movie — the Citizens United film that led to a pivotal Supreme Court case Citizens United v. FEC). Several of her indie films have been played in the Tambay Film Festival and New Zealand Film Festival. In her most recent documentary, she was a producer on the documentary film Generation Zero directed by Steve Bannon. While in college, she studied film under one of the co-founders of Sundance Film Festival and worked for a production company that produced documentary films and television shows for History Channel, PBS and Travel Channel.

She has been in front of the microphone having been interviewed on Fox News Channel and many nationally syndicated talk radio programs about an initiative she spearheaded to mandate American flags in every public classroom in Florida. The Freedom Flag Act was signed into law by Governor Jeb Bush in May 2004.

In addition to producing, she writes for The Daily Caller and LifeZette. She lives in the Washington, D.C. area with her columnist husband Derek and children.
