Unconventional phase high-entropy nanoalloys with modulated electronic structure for efficient low-concentration nitrate electroreduction to ammonia
Abstract Phase control of alloy nanomaterials can modulate their atomic/electronic structures towards various electrocatalytic applications. However, the controlled synthesis of high-entropy nanoalloys (HENAs) with unconventional phase remains challenging. Here we report the one-pot synthesis of RhCuNiInSb HENAs with the unconventional 2H phase through regulating the nucleation/growth kinetics.
Interpretable machine learning model for predicting kidney failure among CAKUT children in multicenter large-scale study
|
Abstract Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) are the leading cause of pediatric kidney failure, but predicting individual progression remains challenging. This multicenter study developed and validated POCC, a machine learning model for predicting kidney failure risk at 1, 3, and 5 years post-diagnosis in CAKUT patients. Two versions were created using data from 2249 children.

HeyJay! A corpus of atypical speech for spoken language understanding and automatic speech recognition
Abstract Speech technologies, such as automatic speech recognition or spoken language understanding, are not usually adapted to atypical speech, i.e., the speech of people with dysarthria, dysphonia, or another type of speech impairment. That prevents atypical speakers from leveraging speech assistants or other human-machine-interaction-powered platforms, which could make their lives easier or increase their independence.
Aggregation-induced emission luminogen in ternary organic bulk-heterojunction for efficient perovskite-organic tandem solar cells
Abstract Perovskite-organic tandem solar cells (TSCs) have recently garnered significant attention due to their potential for high power conversion efficiency (PCE) and excellent stability. However, their development has been significantly hindered by the large open-circuit voltage (VOC) deficit in organic sub-cells, primarily caused by severe non-radiative recombination, which is closely related to the electroluminescence quantum efficiency (EQEEL) and the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY).

Full article: Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Hynobius bambusicolus Wang, Othman, Qiu and Borzée, 2023 (Amphibia, Caudata, Hynobiidae) and its phylogenetic implications
Abstract Hynobius bambusicolus (Caudata, Hynobiidae) is a recently described species, identified in 2022, and is thus not widely known. In this study, we sequenced and annotated the complete mitogenome of H. bambusicolus. The resulting mitochondrial genome is 16,406 bp in length and comprises 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), 22 transfer RNA genes, and a non-coding region. The base composition of the mitogenome is 33.3% A, 32.1% T, 20.8% C, and 13.8% G.

An A’-A-DA’D-A-A’-typed acceptor enables organic solar cells with high Voc and low nonradiative voltage loss
An A’-A-DA’D-A-A’-typed acceptor enables organic solar cells with high Voc and low nonradiative voltage loss Reducing the voltage loss (∆V loss) and thus increasing the open-circuit voltage (VOC) are key factors to further improve the photovoltaic performance of organic solar cells (OSCs). For A-DA'D-A-typed acceptors, the above goals could be achieved through the regulation of the central A’ core and terminal groups.

A Hetero‐Layered, Mechanically Reinforced, Ultra‐Lightweight Composite Polymer Electrolyte for Wide‐Temperature‐Range, Solid‐State Sodium Batteries
Abstract The practical use of polyethylene oxide polymer electrolyte in the solid-state sodium metallic batteries (SSMBs) suffers from the retard Na+ diffusion at the room temperature, mechanical fragility as well as the oxidation tendency at high voltages. Herein, a hetero-layered composite polymeric electrolyte (CPE) is proposed to enable the simultaneous interfacial stability with the high voltage cathodes (till 4.2 V) and Na metallic anode.

An anodeless, mechanically flexible and energy/power dense sodium battery prototype† Miao Bai,a Xiaoyu Tang,a Siyuan Liu,a Helin Wang,a Yujie Liu,a Ahu Shao,a Min Zhang,a Zhiqiao Wanga and Yue Ma *ab Abstract Sodium metal batteries (SMBs) have aroused considerable attention as a viable technology for gigawatt-scale energy storage applications due to the lower cost of resources and theoretical energy density that surpasses that of lithium ion batteries (LIBs).
Chondrocyte-derived exosomes promote cartilage calcification in temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis - Arthritis Research & Therapy
Abstract Backgrounds Abnormal cartilage calcification is one of the pathological changes of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) osteoarthritis (OA). Recent studies have reported that exosomes can regulate the formation of abnormal calcified nodules in diseases including atherosclerosis and chronic kidney disease. However, the influences of chondrocyte-derived exosomes on abnormal cartilage calcification in TMJ OA are still unclear.
