2. Text Corrections There was an error in the original publication [1]. The original publication stated that lymphoid hyperplasia was observed in the histopathology samples of the pilot study. The identified areas showed hyperplasia and anaplasia but did not contain lymph nodes, hence no lymphoid hyperplasia was present. Due to the misinterpretation of the histological images, some minor text corrections are necessary. The authors state that the scientific conclusions are unaffected.

We appreciate the interest in our article describing transcriptome changes in a transgenic mouse model carrying an APC gene mutation and would like to reply to the reader [1]. Our paper focuses primarily on the transcriptome analysis while providing additional information on tumor formation and histological changes. The results presented in this publication clearly show a significantly altered gene expression following exposure to food-grade E171.
Transcriptomics analysis reveals new insights in E171-induced molecular alterations in a mouse model of colon cancer
In this study, we aim to establish the influence of E171 on gene expression patterns in the colon of a colorectal mouse model after exposure to 5 mg/kg /day of E171 for 2, 7, 14, and 21 days. These alterations could lay the basis for the development of tumours in colon that we found in a previous study after 4 weeks of exposure15. Specifically, the up-regulation of genes involved in inflammation, biotransformation of xenobiotics, genes related to cancer, and impairment of the immune system.
