2. Materials and Methods 2.1. Materials The coastal mud samples were collected from the tidal flats of Zhairuoshan Island in Zhejiang Province, China (Figure 1a,b). Ten mud samples were collected at each sampling location using a gravity-based grab sampler to ensure the repeatability of the experiments. The collected mud samples were sent to the laboratory located on the Zhoushan Campus of Zhejiang University.
