Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam’s Biography

Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist whose career has focused on advancing patient care, contributing to clinical research, and supporting health equity in oncology. With nearly twenty years of experience, she has worked in academic, private, and government healthcare settings, consistently striving to enhance access to quality cancer treatment. Her involvement as an investigator in over 40 oncology clinical trials has helped bring new therapies to patients across a broad range of cancer types and backgrounds.

She has also dedicated her time to supporting underserved communities through virtual oncology consultations and pro bono second-opinion services for cancer patients in South Asia. By offering her expertise remotely, she aims to bridge the care gaps for individuals in regions with limited resources. Drawing on her South Asian heritage and clinical experience, she focuses on delivering care that is both culturally sensitive and patient-centered.

Her professional background includes roles in Southern California, Atlanta, and Washington D.C., as well as significant positions at the FDA, NIH, and VA. In these roles, she has combined direct patient care with research and regulatory work, continually improving patient outcomes. She has provided oncology care as a locum tenens physician during periods of transition, ensuring that communities in need continue to receive essential cancer services.

Dr. Hima holds a degree in Biochemistry from Brown University and a Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center and a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Her experience also includes serving as a staff physician and clinical researcher at Compassionate Cancer Care Medical Group, as well as leadership in cancer research at The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, where she expanded access to clinical trials in Georgia. She has collaborated with the Navya Network and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to deliver expert oncology consultations in South Asia and contributed to patient care at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Dr. Hima Bindu Lingam is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology, licensed in multiple states, and recognized for her commitment to research, patient advocacy, and equitable cancer care.
