Bill Hinchberger’s Biography

Bill Hinchberger (@hinchberger) is a journalist and educator. He studied at Berkeley and has taught at the Sorbonne. He runs training programs for professional journalists in Africa and contributes regularly to Global Finance magazine. In 2022 he served as a storytelling coach for the United Nations. He has worked as an international correspondent for The Financial Times, Business Week, Devex, ARTnews, Variety, Advertising Age, and other media. His work has also appeared in publications such as Architectural Record, National Wildlife, Science and The Lancet. Assignments have taken him to over 70 countries. Before going nomad, the native Californian lived in France for 16 years and Brazil for over two decades. He wrote almost all of National Geographic’s travel guidebook on the latter country and the founding editor of the soon-to-be-revived online travel guide BrazilMax.com.. He is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA), and foreign press clubs in Paris, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
