Novel Mito‐Nuclear Combinations Facilitate the Global Invasion of a Major Agricultural Crop Pest
1 Introduction The invasion of non-native species is a pressing global issue that poses a significant threat to both ecological and food security on a global scale.[1, 2] Understanding the mechanisms behind biological invasions represents a critical and challenging area of scientific inquiry.[3] This field remains a hotbed of research activity with numerous complexities to be explored.[4] Efforts to elucidate the factors contributing to the success of certain invasive species have typically...

Effects of parasitism by a parasitoid wasp on the gut microbiota in a predaceous lady beetle host
The gut microbiota has an intimate relationship with insect hosts and this relationship can become complicated with parasitic organisms being involved with the host. To date there has been limited evidence for the relevance of parasitism of the host by parasitoids to host gut microbiota, especially in host insect predators.
Invasion genomics uncover complex introduction patterns of the globally invasive whitefly, Bemisia tabaci MED
Genome survey and sequencing To evaluate the genome size of B. tabaci MED, an Illumina high-throughput sequencing library with an insert size of 350 bp was constructed from genomic DNA and paired-end sequenced on the Illumina NovaSeq-6000 platform. We performed the k-mer analysis to determine the genome size using Jellyfish v2.1.3 software with the k-mer value of 17 (Figure ; Marcais & Kingsford, 2011).
