When it comes to powder are we that dumb ?
I have a pretty good supply of powder on hand that will last me a year or, perhaps, more. Still, I check powder availability and pricing on a regular basis. When, or how, did some of the powder manufacturers come to believe they could convince us to buy 14 oz. bottles of powder ? Last I checked there are 16 oz. in a pound. 🙄 So, just another way of charging the same, or even more, as a full pound and only providing the "short" pound. I suppose like everything else from candy bars to soft drinks.
MEC paper crimp
I have been reloading years and years but have never used the paper crimp. Obviously designed for crimping paper but is there any advantage to using it on AA's. They are so aggravating because no two are the same length, Thanks
7/8 oz. vs 1 1/8 oz. Felt Recoil ?
Yes, Going down to a 1,200fps load of 7/8 oz shot will definitely feel lighter on your shoulder. It would be like shooting a 20 ga. load out of your heavier 12 shotgun. I believe a 7/8 load is about as light as you can go, without reloading your own 3/4 oz. 12ga. loads? You can purchase some 7/8 oz. 1,200fps Bornaghi loads from "Able Ammo". They have 30% off shipping right now as well. I have shot many flats of these Bornaghi shells. They are a good dependable economy load.
MEC 9000 crimp ram with AA's
I am not able to get my crimp ram to go far enough to get a tight crimp. The shaft does not quite have enough threads. Any suggestions.
Sudden change in AA shells and CB0178-12 wad
I had loaded a roughly 1,000 of the above combination with no problem. Suddenly a fairly large number of the wads are not seating inside the base wad. This obviously results in a mess when crimping the shell as the shot are too high in the shell. Any ideas out there.
Target Tracking
First of all I am an experienced trapshooter but as I have gotten older I am shooting slower....leave age out of this discussion. When I pick up the target and get a clear idea of its trajectory I get the gun traveling on that same trajectory for a short time and let her rip. I have experimented with taking the gun directly to where I think the break point will be and letting her go. I have had some success with this but I break the target a lot quicker.
Release Trigger When?
I think if you shoot enough skeet the dreaded "F" will show up there as well. I still shoot a pull but when the day comes I hope to just send my triggers to Phillip and get on with my life. A flinch is one of life's little mysteries but luckily the cure isn't. Its All Good West
Divorce
The only powder I can find burns very dirty and I don't like getting my gun and clothes real dirty. I expect some as I have been doing this since 1968 but this is a little too much. I was thinking about putting them in a lingerie bag and running them through the washer and dryer (after spraying with dawn). Has anyone out there tried that with good results? ( I have removed the primers).
9000e throwing shot out of hull
About every 5th or 6th shell my machine will throw several shot out of the shell when it is rotating from the station where the shot is dropped to station which starts the crimp. If I load a shell one at the time it does fine. Only when the plate is full does it do that. HELP please,
rounded head
I am reloading on a MEC 9000 e and occassionally get a rounded [on the bottom] shell head. I have seen this on the forum before but cannot find it. Thanks
9000e tossing pellets
My 9000e tosses pellets when the device which advances the plate slides under the shell at the crimp starter station. Does anyone have a fix for this; Thanks #1 · My 9000e tosses pellets when the device which advances the plate slides under the shell at the crimp starter station. Resizing issue
I am reloading with a MEC 9000E and reloading AA hulls. I am by no means new to reloadind. I am finding that I am having to use a little force to get that reload in the chamber. The issue seems to be with the body not the brass. What could I be missing here.
Replace MEC Automate motor
Has anyone had to replace the motor in the MEC Automate, or know anyone who has
MEC 9000E Dead
Was reloading and the crimp starter came off and stayed on top of the shell. When it got to the crimping station I had a jammed up mess. Got it untangled but now nothing works. I have checked the fuse and my electrical system. Everything is OK but nothing from the Automate. Sounds like the motor is burned up. (I dont remember turning machine off when the jam up occurred. How hard is it to replace the motor.
Popping noise on 9000e
About every 12th shell my loader makes a popping noise, I cannot isolate it. Anyone have an idea.
MEC 9000e issues
Just Bought a used 9000e. It appear ed to have been used very little. I got it put together and when making dry runs, the first 3 or 4 cycles it appeared to be working fine. After that it would short cycle. After cutting it off for a while that it would repeat scenario. Any thoughts.
A5 fore end
My son in law as inherited his grandpas A5 with q busted fore end. Where can he find a replacement. He is on a budget,
Caesar Guirini Summit choke tubes
I am brand new to the above gun and was wondering about using the choke tube "wrench". Screwing the tube in by hand it seats good and solid and I feel no need to use the "wrench". Removing the tube might be a different matter but what do you experienced users of this gun do?
725 failure to switch barrels
I know that this has been batted around before but I desperately need a solution. 1. I have double release triggers. 2.The gun works perfectly as an unsingle. 3. Without anything in the chamber the triggers work perfectly including switching barrels. 4.when actually shooting the 2nd barrel does not always reset. 5. I can reset the second barrel and it will fire with the target falling. 6. The top barrel works better than the bottom but has the same issue, just not as often. 7.
