Frequency and Pattern of Worldwide Ocular Gene Therapy Clinical Trials up to 2022
1. Introduction Since the 1950s, when the DNA structure was discovered, gene modification has been entertained as a means of changing a human or an organ for a specific purpose. Further understanding of human biology and the discovery of some genes, as well as the development of biological vehicles for gene delivery, resulted in the introduction of the first gene therapy clinical trials in 1990 [1,2]. More than a decade later, the first gene therapy was approved for cancer treatment in 2003 [3].
Effects of Smoothing and Adaptive Filtering in Multifocal Electroretinography (mfERG)
1. Introduction Electroretinography (ERG) is an ocular electrophysiologic test that allows clinicians to access the health of photoreceptors and bipolar cells in the retina [1]. Multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) is designed specifically to examine macular photoreceptors and bipolar cells [2]. In 2021, Hoffmann et al. published the standard guidelines for the clinical use of mfERG, which continues to guide practice today [1].

Argus II Retinal Prosthesis Implantation in a Patient With a History Of Strabismus Surgery:A Surgical Technique
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The authors describe a modified surgical technique for Argus II retinal prosthesis implantation. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The modified surgical technique was performed in a 43-year-old male with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) who underwent strabismus surgery in that eye at age 8. RESULTS: During Argus II implantation, the lateral rectus (LR) was noted to be 10 mm posterior to its original insertion due to prior strabismus surgery.
