Americans must make a choice
My father was a Marine in World War II. He was wounded twice and nearly killed on the battlefield. Fortunately, he made it out. In uniform with his arm in a sling, he hitchhiked home in small private planes to recuperate, because he could get home faster than waiting for a scheduled government flight. My father didn't think of himself as a hero. He felt he was just doing his job as a citizen to fight fascism and keep our country free.

The advent of autonomous vehicles is fraught with uncertainty, especially when it comes to their impacts on traffic, travel choices, and the broader transportation system. They offer many potential benefits, but many potential negative impacts, depending in part on how they are deployed. While widespread adoption may still be decades away, significant numbers will begin to be on the roads in less than 10 years, according to manufacturers and other observers.
