Howard Coff’s Biography

Beginning with a clear sense of responsibility and purpose, Howard Coff has spent much of his professional life focused on building work that is steady, useful, and grounded in service. Alongside his wife, he co-owned and operated a Visiting Angels home-care agency in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. His involvement began with the business's founding in 2004 and continued until the agency was sold in 2019. During those fifteen years, he played a central role in shaping the agency’s operations and long-term direction.

What started as a new business idea gradually became a trusted provider of home care services to families throughout the community. Howard understood that families seeking care were often facing difficult circumstances, and he approached the work with that awareness. The agency’s growth was not driven by speed, but by consistency and reliability. He valued building systems that worked day after day, knowing that dependable service mattered more than rapid expansion.

Running the franchise required attention to many areas at once. Howard was involved in hiring caregivers, overseeing training efforts, managing finances, and maintaining relationships within the local community. He favored practical solutions and transparent processes, believing that structure helped reduce stress for both staff and clients. By maintaining disciplined financial oversight and organized operations, he helped create a work environment where caregivers could focus on their responsibilities without unnecessary disruption.

In 2015, the agency received the Zenith Award, recognizing it as one of the top private-duty home-care agencies among more than 450 franchises nationwide. This recognition reflected years of consistent performance, strong internal systems, and a standard of care that families came to trust. For Howard, the award represented confirmation that careful planning and steady leadership could produce lasting results.

His direct involvement in daily operations shaped Howard’s approach. He regularly interacted with caregivers, clients, and community partners rather than managing remotely. This hands-on experience gave him a realistic understanding of the challenges involved in home care. Over time, he developed the ability to balance opportunity with caution, identify financial signals early, and make decisions that supported long-term stability.

Even before the business sale, Howard began sharing his experience with others. Since 2017, he has volunteered as a certified mentor with SCORE, the national organization affiliated with the Small Business Administration. After the agency was sold in 2019, he continued dedicating time to mentoring entrepreneurs who are launching or improving their businesses. His guidance is especially valuable to those entering the home care industry, where costs, staffing needs, and regulatory concerns must be carefully managed.

Howard works with individuals from many backgrounds and at different stages of business development. Some come with detailed plans, while others are still trying to clarify their ideas. He approaches each situation with patience, helping clients think through operations, finances, and realistic next steps. He views mentorship as a way to provide steady, experience-based guidance rather than abstract advice.

Outside of business and mentoring, Howard has remained committed to community involvement. Along with his wife, he volunteered for many years at the June Fete, an annual fundraiser supporting Abington Hospital, now part of Jefferson Health. Funds raised from the event support programs that benefit patients and families in the region. He believes that consistent support for organizations tied to health and care is an important responsibility.

As he continues his work today, Howard draws on a background that includes small business development, financial management, and relationship building. He understands how early decisions can shape long-term outcomes and encourages thoughtful planning and accountability. Through mentorship and community service, he remains focused on contributing in practical ways, guided by steady effort and respect for work that supports others over time.
