Workplace policy and gifting: do you know where the ethical line lies?
With end-of-year party dates locked down and client lunch celebrations booked in for December, holiday season is just around the corner. While it’s not uncommon for members to receive gifts throughout the year, this is a good time for members to refresh their knowledge of workplace policies on gifting and look at their ethical responsibilities, says Rebecca Stickney, leader of the CA ANZ professional conduct team in New Zealand. What is a gift?
Are wellness champions the key to good mental health at work?
5 min read In brief The growing complexity of hybrid work makes fostering belonging more challenging for organisations. Psychosocial risks, such as unclear job roles and lack of support, are becoming just as critical to navigate as physical risks in the workplace. Organisational interventions, such as adjusting management practices and job design, are proving more effective for improving wellbeing than individual-level solutions.
Gender pay gap: how does your company measure up?
Australia has an average gender pay gap of 12%, while data from Manatū Wāhine Ministry for Women in New Zealand highlights an average gender pay gap of 8.6%. Meanwhile, the 2023 CA ANZ Remuneration Survey Report reveals the gender pay gap for members is 13% in Australia and 22% in New Zealand. One factor is career breaks, which women commonly take when starting a family. During a career break, women’s remuneration typically stands still or increases only slightly.
Navigating Christmas shutdowns: a guide for firms
4 min read In brief Workplace closures during the festive season offer a great opportunity for staff to recharge but aren’t always feasible during busy periods. At Melbourne-based property group, Oliver Hume, some staff take almost a fortnight’s leave while others work through the holiday period, depending on their role. North Island accounting firm, PKF Doyles, closes for three weeks although some team members remain on call.
The megatrend of private asset investment
Don't miss out on a global megatrend. We discuss an asset class that offers the trifecta of strong returns, low volatility and portfolio diversification. It wasn't so long ago that Australian investors were faced with a slim choice of options. Cash, bonds and shares formed the bulk of offerings for everyday Australian investors. Not anymore though. The investment landscape is shifting rapidly, and it is being driven by private capital markets.

Letter From the Editor, Issue 21
There’s a lot written about “craft” these days as, rightly, we celebrate hard-earned skill, whether it’s an exquisite handmade bag, the best croissant in town or a seven-year-old’s drum solo on TikTok. The theory that 10,000 hours practice will bestow greatness has become a cliché.
Outside Paris, A Charming Town, Château and Hotel Steeped In History
Each morning, when the park gates are unlocked for the day, Charles-Eric Hoffman, his partner Julien and their two dogs, Theos and Magic, walk out the door of the grand hotel Pavillon Henri IV, turn right and begin their brisk hour-long walk through the Forêt domaniale de Saint Germain (Saint Germain en Laye forest).
Made You Look: Fashion Watches
Behind his tortoiseshell spectacles, Philippe Delhotal looks more like an artist than a watch brand executive. The 61-year-old creation and development director of Hermès Horloger is wearing a navy chore coat with a flamboyant silk scarf tucked into the collar. Above it, his greying facial hair has reached that bristly hinterland somewhere between 10-day stubble and tangible whiskers, while on his wrist he wears an Hermès HO8 with a rubber strap in blazing tangerine.
A Petite Watch for Slender Wrists
Most watch manufacturers consider a small women’s wrist to be less than 5.5 inches in size. The Boys of Summer Shine in Hermès's Paris show • T Australia
The sun decided to come out in Paris for the Hermès Spring Summer 2025 mens collection. With the weather playing hard-to-get across Europe in an unseasonably cold and wet June, it was poetically fitting that Véronique Nichanian’s SS25 collection saw attendees peeling off their just-in-case layers and reaching for a pre-show cucumber cooler. It was a show that made this editor want to pack her beach bag (that perfect blue denim Haut à Courroies one preferably) and head off to the Amalfi coast.

When it comes to the ebi prawn risotto at Shell House, for example, Guest says, “Roasting the prawns in butter in a pan instead of oil will give a much deeper shellfish flavour.

Have You Noticed Your Food Is Getting Prettier?
The French Post-Impressionist Paul Cézanne’s still-life paintings are famous for their vibrant colours and dynamic depictions of crunchy, robust fruit. “Painting from nature is not copying the object,” the artist once said. “It is realising one’s sensations.” Food and art have always gone hand in hand, but now, more than ever, chefs are plating their dishes in a painterly way that ignites not only the sensation of taste but gets eyes on Instagram and patrons on restaurant seats.

How Twins From Brisbane Became New York's Newest Creative Visionaries • T Australia
The only clue that something marvellous happens in Rock Tavern, near Beacon, a 90-minute drive north of New York City, is the presence of a few Frank Stella sculptures perched by the roadside. The sheds themselves are stubbornly nondescript, the kind of hangar-sized industrial buildings you drive past without a second glance. But if you were to stop and peek inside, you’d discover the artistic equivalent of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory here.

Inside the Malibu Home and Artistic Universe of Pierce Brosnan
What makes a good Bond (James Bond)? Like a perfectly balanced martini, Ian Fleming’s iconic literary character demands a specific formula: equal parts confidence and calm; intelligence (sometimes eclipsed by pride); and a vermouth-style wash of mischievousness, wit and sex appeal. Shaken, of course, with the potential to knock you from your seat. And served with a singular roguish garnish.
