Low-thermal-budget electrically active thick polysilicon for CMOS-First MEMS-last integration - Microsystems & Nanoengineering
Abstract Low-thermal-budget, electrically active, and thick polysilicon films are necessary for building a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) on top of a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS). However, the formation of these polysilicon films is a challenge in this field. Herein, for the first time, the development of in situ phosphorus-doped silicon films deposited under ultrahigh-vacuum conditions (~10−9 Torr) using electron-beam evaporation (UHVEE) is reported.
Designing fiscally viable coverage of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs
The obesity epidemic may be the worst health crisis facing this country, given the number of people affected, the associated health risks, and the impact on health care spending. At last there is a promising treatment for this chronic disease – FDA-approved GLP-1 Anti-Obesity Medication (AOM) such as Wegovy and Saxenda – but the cost implications are concerning.
Bangladesh sets $67bn export target for 2022-2023 fiscal year
After skyrocketing growth in the immediate past 2021-22 fiscal year (July 2021-June 2022), the Bangladesh government has raised its export. The export is targeted by over 11 per cent to $67 billion for the current fiscal 2022-23 years. Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi made the announcement at a news conference here on Wednesday. According to the minister, $58 billion would come from goods exports and 9 billion dollars from the service sector.
Pushing the boundaries of thinking today to address the healthcare challenges of tomorrow
By Dr Ian Chuang, Global Chief Medical Officer for Elsevier The COVID-19 pandemic condensed and challenged the bench to bedside continuum. It created an accelerated timeline for clinicians, exposing the challenges of driving fast and hard in a dynamic healthcare environment, albeit out of pure necessity.
Taking action now to shape the next decade of care
The COVID-19 pandemic condensed and challenged the bench to bedside continuum. It created an accelerated timeline for clinicians, exposing the challenges of driving fast and hard in a dynamic healthcare environment, albeit out of pure necessity. The environment that we’re in has shown it isn’t realistic, nor best practice, to continue relying on each individual’s ability to stay current with quickly evolving medical knowledge whilst also remembering to apply it to the right patient.
The Importance of Translating Newly Acquired Knowledge into Clinical Practice

The dynamism of clinical knowledge
Clinical knowledge is never static. Throughout history, our knowledge about the human body and science has constantly evolved. This has been particularly true in the past year with the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic. Updates and changes occur to fundamental principles and core knowledge, which are shaped and informed by bench research over time, and constant shifts occur in the practical application of knowledge, for example how clinicians assess, diagnose and care for patients.

Does precision medicine conflict with or complement value-based care?
I had the pleasure of attending HIMSS Asia-Pacific this year, where I talked about the importance of value in the delivery of care. Indeed, the continuously escalating healthcare cost added to a growing and aging population, resulting in a rise in chronic and multiple complex conditions to treat, have led to efforts to model and incentivize care based on value.
A deluge of data: A pledge to the democratization of healthcare
Since Stanford Medicine’s 2018 Health Trends Report was released, the idea of “democratizing” healthcare has gained momentum. To successfully deliver consistent, high-quality, evidence-based care requires a concerted approach from all healthcare professionals (HCPs). But, at the epicenter lies the question: How can we make knowledge easily and equally accessible to HCPs anytime, anywhere, at the point-of-care (POC)?
