Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

Assistant Editor of PROFIT Magazine, writing and managing its marketing and technology coverage just as the Internet was becoming a thing.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Absolutely! Manual and electric. Even took Typing in grade 9 — before they changed the course name to Keyboarding.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The Trial of Ray Loewen. Totally green, I spent a week in Mississippi reporting on a Canadian firm tripped up by southern justice.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Weekdays!

What's the best pitch you ever got?

Not one pitch, but all pitches from one PR freelancer that told me the who, what and why in no more than three sentences.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

A new medical product for aging seniors should be covered by my business management pub because some business managers have aging parents.

What's your favorite drink?

French 75
