Public Involvement in a Systematic Review Project: Reporting Our Approach Using the ACTIVE Framework
1 Introduction The involvement of patients and the public in health research is an evolving practice and a requirement of national UK funders and ethics committees. As such, the literature and evidence base around patient and public involvement is growing, resulting in an increasing awareness of the value and benefits of knowledge exchange between researchers and individuals with relevant lived experience and experiential expertise.
‘It was just the given thing to do’: exploring enablers for high childhood vaccination uptake in East London’s Bangladeshi community-a qualitative study | BMJ Public Health
In the UK, early childhood vaccination uptake is often lower among underserved populations, including ethnic minority groups. However, the underserved Bangladeshi community in the UK has exhibited high childhood vaccination uptake. Factors underpinning this uptake have not been explored. Writer’s Block : Confessions of a Writer
Have I run out of ideas? Photo by Pedro Araújo on Unsplash For the past few days, I’ve been wondering what to write about in my next medium post. I’ve been thinking and rethinking reading day and night. I get the idea I feel it would work and then lose interest in it. Sometimes the idea seems interesting to talk about but turns out a myriad of people have already written about it so again it had to be dropped.
Creativity: A Treasure Within
“Creativity is the relationship between human beings and mysteries of inspiration.” -Elizabeth Gilbert Photo by Artem Podrez from Pexels You must have said this countless time seeing a talented person that he is gifted by God, or must have heard it from other people. We see creativity, not as an ability but something that only a select few possess. I too had believed in such things, when someone asked me, what are you good at? I promptly said nothing because I never paid attention to it.
Discovering Strength While You Are Lost in the Darkness
“It is only in our darkest hours that we may discover the true strength of the brilliant light within ourselves that can never, ever, be dimmed.” – Doe Zantamata Photo by MuiZur on Unsplash Do you feel lost because of an unfortunate incident that might have happened to you? Do you feel abandoned, ignored, just dragging yourself through life without any hope for the future? Well, somewhere in life we all have to deal with such uncertain scenarios. The times when we feel everything has ended.
Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy
We often overlook our qualities because our focus is always on the other person. shutterstock.com “Comparison is the thief of joy.” A beautiful quote by Theodore Roosevelt that we all must have come across often in our lives but hardly could adhere to it. This saying is relevant today where every second person you'll meet is unhappy and on being asked they would just say that, "I am depressed." People of different age groups become the victim of this.
A Shoutout To The Top 20 Users Of 2020, Who Defined Being ‘Vocal’ And How!
For the unprecedented year that went by, and for all that it brought with it- the fears, the uncertainty, the agony, peppered with some hope somewhere, what kept us, at YKA, going was the one thing constant- Our Users. On days when we grappled with the incoherent reality of an unexpected pandemic, we found solace in the empathic stories our users shared with us, from nooks and corners of the country, giving us the assurance that we were all in this together and that this too shall pass.
‘Stay In, Stay Safe’: How Staying In Became ‘Unsafe’ For Women Amid COVID-19
“Where shall we go amidst the pandemic? Cries echo within the confines. She bears it all, her hope for escape has died.” It is regrettable how cases of violence against women have hiked during the COVID-19 lockdown. It represents how even in the 21st-century, women are vulnerable. As the pandemic spread, people were asked to ‘stay in, stay safe’. Ironically, staying in became unsafe for some. Representational image.
My Mother Would Say “So What If He Hits You, He Loves And Cares Too”
Sibling Abuse, An Unspoken Story When there’s been so much talk about domestic violence, why are we still silent when it comes to sibling abuse? Is domestic violence only limited to partners? Is a brother beating up his sister not an act of violence? Is it not a criminal act of domination and superiority of one person over the other. What parents usually say is “ye sab toh behen bhai ke beech chalta rehta hai”.
Women Empowerment And Gender Equality: How Far Have We Really Come?
TW: Domestic abuse. I met a woman whose story has brought me here today. Her sufferings are too much for a person of her age to bear. She is just 20-years-old, an underprivileged woman, and a mother of two daughters (6 and 24 months old). She told me how she was thrown out of the house by her mother-in-law, at midnight, in Delhi, amidst the Coronavirus outbreak along with the two little girls, due to some dowry issues.
Is There Any Escape From The ‘Overhyped’ Drama That Is Marriage?
When I think about marriage, the first thing that comes to my mind is the fear of being body-shamed. The procedure of conventional arranged marriages in our society has legalised this. It feels like you just can’t reach a perfect match until you body shame 10-15 people.
Quick Byte: ‘Raging Intolerance’ Is A Threat To The Secular Essence Of India
This question takes me back to an incident that happened around a few weeks back while I was reading a text by the author and activist Kancha Ilaiah Shepherd, where I came across an excerpt that felt true to me and couldn’t resist myself sharing it on my social media.
