Imphal Times was founded to provide independent, public-interest journalism. Our earliest work focused on reporting local news, governance, community issues, and events shaping Manipur.

Social media accelerates news distribution and audience engagement but also spreads misinformation quickly, making fact-checking, verification, and responsible journalism more important than ever.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means seeking truth, verifying facts, reporting fairly, serving the public interest, and holding those in power accountable with integrity, accuracy, and independence.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
We don't have a favorite. Clever hashtags can be memorable, but accuracy matters more than trends. We'd rather a story be verified than go viral because of a catchy hashtag.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Send concise, fact-based pitches by email with verified information, supporting documents, relevant contacts, and why the story matters. Exclusive and public-interest stories are always welcome.

We use content management systems, digital cameras, audio recorders, AI-assisted research tools, fact-checking resources, photo editing software, and analytics platforms.

We chose journalism to inform the public, hold power accountable, amplify underrepresented voices, and contribute to an informed, transparent, and democratic society.

We're most proud of our public-interest reporting that has highlighted governance, human rights, transparency, and the voices of communities across Manipur with accuracy and integrity.

Stay curious, verify every fact, protect your credibility, listen to all sides, write clearly, uphold ethics, and never let speed compromise accuracy or the public interest.

A common misconception is that journalism is just reporting events. In reality, it requires rigorous verification, context, ethical judgment, and accountability to the public.
