What was your first job as a journalist?

A high school internship in the newsroom at news radio station in my hometown.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. My grandfather was a journalist. I grew up playing with his typewriter. Left an impression!

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Your job involves learning about things. What could be cooler than that?

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I love drafting in BBEdit, a text editor on Mac.

Why did you become a journalist?

My grandfather was one. He was a gigantic inspiration.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes. I don't remember a single story I wrote ... I also worked for a business newspaper in my hometown.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The scoop that halted Sam Bankman-Fried's fraud.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Cover what you're passionate about. Reporters do their best work when they're covering something that matters to them.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Early afternoon.
