Have you ever wondered about the history of a particular building as you walk the streets of Santa Fe? Santa Fe is a unique place, rich with architectural and cultural history. Review: The best books for the road - The Santa Fe New Mexican: Teen
Summer is an ideal time for road trips, and what better way to get in the mood for travel — or to pass the time in the car, assuming you are not driving or prone to car sickness — than to read a road trip-themed novel? On the Road by Jack Kerouac. Mixing wanderlust with wonder-lust, On the Road is a key to the “beat generation,” a culture of artists, authors and followers who rejected social norms and structure in the 1950s.
The power of sterotypes - The Santa Fe New Mexican: Teen
Morelia “Mo” Cuevas, a senior at Santa Fe High School, said she felt the effects of stereotyping and prejudice as early as first grade. She grew up speaking Spanish in a town in Texas where most people were Anglos. My View: Riding the city bus has its ups, downs - The Santa Fe New Mexican: Teen
I can be found at the bus stop outside Santa Fe High School most days after classes get out, catching the No. 4 bus. I use it for leisurely activities, but I also rely on it to get me to my after-school activities — work at the The Santa Fe New Mexican, my SITE Santa Fe Young Curators involvement and my service with a local support group. Without our city’s bus system, I would not be able to do any of these things, being that I live far out of town and do not drive.
How romantic: ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ - The Santa Fe New Mexican: Teen
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So reads the opening line in Seth Grahame-Smith’s horrific literary version of Jane Austen’s 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice, redone as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Grahame-Smith retained the majority of the original text by Jane Austen and worked in scenes that had the potential to feature zombies.
