Interview

What does it mean to be a journalist?

There are so many meaning of the world journalist. For me, it means being honest and open with our audience. And, for that, it is necessary, to be honest with yourself. Especially in today's world, where Journalism is considered to be an artificial field, it becomes very important for us to remain authentic and faithful in all aspects of our lives.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

For me, there are no particular rules. You can email me if you want to or even drop a DM on Instagram. I am comfortable with it all. But I would like to emphasize one thing. I believe that a pitch becomes a lot more authentic if you can share the idea(Why) behind your pitch.

What's your favorite social network?

My favourite social network is Instagram. Since the past few months, I have been actively following content creators and storytellers that always inspire and motivate me to become a better version of myself, even when I am loathing into the feeling of self-pity.

Who do you wish followed you?

Wow! This is an interesting question. Honestly, at this moment, I can think of no person whom I would like to follow me. But, I just hope to inspire people around the world through my stories, thoughts and words.

Why did you become a journalist?

In my opinion, there is nothing more wonderful than knowing the story behind a person or knowing a story behind a particular act of resistance. And, when we can share those stories with the world through words, with the belief that it will inspire and motivate the people in a positive way, I think that is when you fully feel satisfied with yourself.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No, I did not work for my high school newspaper. Well, the reason was pretty simple. I was still on the routes of discovering myself and Journalism was one path, that I kept myself away from until the past few years.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

About a few months ago, I chose to write an opinionated piece. While going into the story, I realised that I was not feeling true to myself. It was lacking something, something that required me to look inside myself and to introspect. And, for that, I had to confront all of my hidden feelings and not feel ashamed of my vulnerabilities.

What's your favorite drink?

I love drinking tea. Especially ginger tea. It gets weird sometimes to know my obsession for tea as in my childhood I used to run away from it. But, I guess this is what growing up means.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

When I am not at my computer, I am most probably sitting in my living room, with a cup of tea, a pen and a book to read. And, if not there, then I am sitting on the couch with my mother.
