Have you ever used a typewriter?
No, I've never had the opportunity to use it. Of course, it was highly in use while I was growing up, but I had no access to it.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
I think that a journalist is one who lives with the burden that the betterment of human society is his or her responsibility. This is what guides his or her thoughts and actions. Then he encourages the people around to contribute to the cause.
What's your favorite social network?
Facebook is my favourite social network. I've been using it since 2012. Initially, I limited my account to adding and interacting with the people I knew in real life. However, things have changed over the years. I now interact with people within and outside Nigeria, conduct research, teach the English language, and do many other things on the platform.
Why did you become a journalist?
Well, I fell in love with journalism when I was a fourth-year secondary school student, and this was largely influenced by my passion for the English language. I followed that path and studied mass communication at university: Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to be specific.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My high school didn't have a newspaper. However, when I was at level three at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, I served as the science and technology editor for our campus publications: Campus Herald Newspaper and Pioneer Magazine. That was in 2016. It was a pleasurable experience despite the struggle I went through to balance the responsibilities with my academic activities.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
As an aspiring journalist, one has to create a niche and read as many books as possible in that area. This, however, doesn't discourage versatility.
What's your favorite drink?
My favourite drink is water. Much as it has always occupied the position, I became conscious of it about a year ago when I realised that it's the healthiest drink on earth.
