Islam Elfiky

Islam Elfiky is a New York-based entrepreneur and the Co-Founder and Head of Business Development at MedsNow, a healthcare technology company he started in 2020 with Nikhil Misra. MedsNow was built for a specific problem: the roughly 23,000 independent pharmacies in the United States, a segment worth an estimated $81 million in spend, have largely been left out of the online economy that national chains dominate. The platform gives them the credentials and software to sell online and stay compliant, and to onboard patients, send invoices, collect payments, and track receivables with real analytics.

The company found traction early. It was accepted into Cohort 14 of XRC Labs, the accelerator's largest to date, and spent three months working with a network of more than 330 mentors and a roster of retail partners. MedsNow presented at XRC Ventures' 2023 Demo Day and has been backed by the XRC Ventures Accelerator Program and Reshape Ventures.

Islam's discipline comes from sport. He grew up in Cairo, earned a place on Egypt's national squash team as a junior, and went on to play No. 1 for George Washington University, where he went 21-3 in his standout 2011-12 season and was named the program's Male Athlete of the Year. He graduated with a degree in economics in 2014.

His work has never stayed in one lane. He co-founded Squash on Fire, a public squash club in Washington, D.C., and is now building a hospitality venture with Yalla Hospitality. Alongside all of it, he stays involved in his family's hospital business in Egypt.
