Interview

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means you have the responsibility to inform an audience about something new or proprietary. It is a position with great social influence.

What's your favorite social network?

LinkedIn.

Why did you become a journalist?

I became a journalist when I realized I could combine my love for storytelling with a career that is community oriented and fun!

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes, I was the sports editor. Being a travel soccer player at that time, sports reporting was what I was passionate about reporting.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I really enjoyed working on a story that localized the Adderall shortage in a rural town, because national issues affect ALL communities.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

It's never too early to start getting experience—and clips. Look into your school's media network or your community's paper.

When's the best time to pitch you?

The best time to pitch me is early morning, so I can get the message when I wake up and reply to you the same day. But, feel free to anytime.

What's your favorite drink?

Iced coffee with oatmilk, because I'm not at that point in my career for just multiple cups of black.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Playing soccer or trying out a new restaurant.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I enjoy reading the Financial Times and New York Times.
