Digital quantum magnetism on a trapped-ion quantum computer
Abstract Digital quantum matter—realized when discrete quantum gates approximate continuous time evolution—is susceptible to heating into chaotic, structureless states1. If digitization errors are adequately suppressed, a long-lived transient regime of approximately energy-conserving dynamics2,3,4,5,6,7 can be observed on gate-based quantum computers.
Polygenic contributions to performance on the Balloon Analogue Risk Task - Molecular Psychiatry
Abstract Risky decision-making is a common, heritable endophenotype seen across many psychiatric disorders. Its underlying genetic architecture is incompletely explored. We examined behavior in the Balloon Analogue Risk Task (BART), which tests risky decision-making, in two independent samples of European ancestry.
Single-cell, single-organoid phenotypic landscapes - Nature Methods
A droplet microfluidic system enables deterministic capture and subsequent sequencing and analysis of single-cell transcriptomes from organoids and other small, individual tissue samples. Biological organization emerges in multicellular systems through the push-and-pull interactions of each individual cell. There are enumerable scenarios in biological and biomedical research where one would want to understand the molecules that are abundant in every cell within a biological system.
Lineage recording in human cerebral organoids - Nature Methods
Abstract Induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived organoids provide models to study human organ development. Single-cell transcriptomics enable highly resolved descriptions of cell states within these systems; however, approaches are needed to directly measure lineage relationships. Here we establish iTracer, a lineage recorder that combines reporter barcodes with inducible CRISPR–Cas9 scarring and is compatible with single-cell and spatial transcriptomics.
A roadmap for the Human Developmental Cell Atlas - Nature
Abstract The Human Developmental Cell Atlas (HDCA) initiative, which is part of the Human Cell Atlas, aims to create a comprehensive reference map of cells during development. This will be critical to understanding normal organogenesis, the effect of mutations, environmental factors and infectious agents on human development, congenital and childhood disorders, and the cellular basis of ageing, cancer and regenerative medicine.
