Bottom-up reconstruction of synthetic pyrenoids provides insights into the mechanisms and evolution of carbon concentration by EPYC1 proteins
Abstract Membraneless organelles play essential roles in many cellular processes. In various photosynthetic organisms, they are a crucial part of CO2/carbon-concentrating mechanisms (CCMs) that increase photosynthetic productivity. One example is the pyrenoid in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, a liquid-phase-separated organelle that localizes and improves CO2 fixation via the intrinsically disordered protein essential pyrenoid component 1 (EPYC1CR).
Understanding the rationale for metronidazole use in dogs and cats
INTRODUCTION Almost 5 million human deaths were associated with bacterial antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in 2019 (Murray et al., 2022) and the situation is predicted to get worse (O'Neill, 2016). The health and welfare of cats and dogs may also be negatively impacted by AMR (Santana et al., 2023; Weese, 2008).
Kinetic simulations underestimate the effects of waves during magnetic reconnection
Collisionless plasma systems are often studied using fully kinetic simulations, where protons and electrons are treated as particles. Due to their computational expense, it is necessary to reduce the ion-to-electron mass ratio or the ratio between plasma and cyclotron frequencies in simulations of large systems. In this Letter we show that when electron-scale waves are present in larger-scale systems, numerical parameters affect their amplitudes and effects on the larger system.
Changing trends in anaesthesia for trabeculectomy: a clinical effectiveness and safety analysis - Eye
Glaucoma is a progressive optic neuropathy and represents the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide [1]. Intraocular pressure (IOP) is an important modifiable risk factor and trabeculectomy remains the procedure of choice for most glaucoma specialists [2, 3]. Anaesthesia choice is paramount when planning for trabeculectomy. Factors to consider include surgeon’s preference, patient’s age and preference, anticipated difficulty and duration of the operation, and logistical concerns [4].
P108 GENOME CONSTRUCTION AND ALLERGEN IDENTIFICATION IN GRASS CARP (CTENOPHARYNGODON IDELLA)
Grass carp is a popular freshwater fish species in Hong Kong. Despite of inexpensive price and high nutritional value, the allergenicity of grass carp was reported as higher than other commercially important fishes (salmon and cod) in terms of IgE reactivity. Pavalbumin (Cten i) was identified as the main allergenic protein in grass carp muscle, while other allergenic proteins are yet to be discovered.

VASOVAGAL SYNCOPE PATIENTS HAVE A REDUCED QUALITY OF LIFE AND GREATER PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS COMPARED TO HEALTHY SUBJECTS
To view the full text, please login as a subscribed user or purchase a subscription. Click here to view the full text on ScienceDirect. FiguresPatients with vasovagal syncope (VVS) are highly symptomatic and have a reduced health-related quality of life (HRQoL). There is limited data comparing the HRQoL and psychological profile between VVS patients and healthy individuals.
