Sen. Budd: 'We must continue to exert all forms of pressure on Hamas leadership until they release every hostage in Gaza'
Ted Budd, Senator of North Carolina, expressed his condolences for the families of hostages killed in Gaza and urged continued pressure on Hamas to ensure the release of all captives. This statement was made on the social media platform X. "Today, the Israel Defense Forces retrieved the bodies of two hostages held by Hamas in Gaza since October 7, 2023," said Budd. "I am praying for the families as they continue to grieve the death of their loved ones.
Optical and acoustic plasmons in the layered material Sr2RuO4 - Nature Communications
Abstract The perfect linear temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity in a variety of “strange” metals is a real puzzle in condensed matter physics. For these materials also other non-Fermi liquid properties are predicted or detected. In particular we mention the results derived from holographic theories which conclude that plasmons should be overdamped due to a low energy continuum in the electronic susceptibility.
Maximal Anderson localization and suppression of surface plasmons in two-dimensional random Au networks
Two-dimensional random metal networks possess unique electrical and optical properties, such as almost total optical transparency and low sheet resistance, which are closely related to their disordered structure.
My View: Older Oregonians deserve better from the SSA
Most of us have experienced long hold times or dropped calls when trying to get through to a customer service agent. You may have even received incorrect information the first time you called and had to start the process all over again. Unfortunately, this is what many people who are trying to reach the Social Security Administration (SSA) experience.
Changing Paradigms in the Management of Acute Uncomplicated Diverticulitis
Diagnostics Clinical Diagnosis The most common presentation of patients with diverticulitis is pain in the left lower abdominal quadrant and changes in bowel habits (constipation or diarrhea) with or without fever.

European Society of Coloproctology: guidelines for the management of diverticular disease of the colon
Abstract Aim The goal of this European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) guideline project is to give an overview of the existing evidence on the management of diverticular disease, primarily as a guidance to surgeons. Methods The guideline was developed during several working phases including three voting rounds and one consensus meeting.
The prevalence of community programmes and policies to prevent childhood obesity in a diverse sample of US communities: the Healthy Communities Study
This manuscript describes the prevalence and attributes of community programmes and policies (CPPs) to address childhood obesity documented as occurring in 130 diverse US communities. Key informant interviews (N = 1420) and document abstraction were used to identify and characterize CPPs to promote physical activity and healthy nutrition occurring during a 10‐year retrospective study period. Data were collected in 2013–2015 and analysed in 2016.
Association between community characteristics and implementation of community programmes and policies addressing childhood obesity: the Healthy Communities Study - Schultz - - Pediatric Obesity - Wiley Online Library
Little is known about whether characteristics of communities are associated with differential implementation of community programmes and policies to promote physical activity and healthy eating. This study examines associations between community characteristics (e.g. region and race/ethnicity) and the intensity of community programmes and policies implemented to prevent childhood obesity.
Measuring the intensity of community programs and policies for preventing childhood obesity in a diverse sample of US communities: the Healthy Communities Study - Collie‐Akers - - Pediatric Obesity - Wiley Online Library
Efforts to address the critical public health problem of childhood obesity are occurring across the USA; however, little is known about how to characterize the intensity of these efforts. The purposes of this study are to describe the intensity of community programs and policies (CPPs) to address childhood obesity in 130 US communities and to examine the extent to which observed CPPs targeted multiple behaviours and employed a comprehensive array of strategies.
The longitudinal relationship between community programmes and policies to prevent childhood obesity and BMI in children: the Healthy Communities Study
Although a national epidemic of childhood obesity is apparent, how community-based programmes and policies (CPPs) affect this outcome is not well understood. This study examined the longitudinal relationship between the intensity of CPPs in 130 communities over 10 years and body mass index (BMI) of resident children. We also examined whether these relationships differ by key family or community characteristics.
