J. Simpson is a freelance writer and musician, living and working in Portland, Or. Specializing in music journalism, he is constantly expanding the parameters of what that means, using it as a microscope to examine the minutiae of culture.
He is the owner and creator of the Forestpunk online journal, which is investigating the intersection of music with ancient hidden philosophies, seeking to define the indescribable, looking for the soul in the machine. He also freelances for a number of websites, including Freq. magazine, www.freq.org.uk, Redefine Magazine, www.redefinemag.com, and The Active Listener, active-listener.blogspot.com.
