Radio emissions reveal Alfvénic activity and electron acceleration prior to substorm onset - Nature Communications
Abstract Magnetospheric substorms are among the most dynamic phenomena in the Earth’s magnetosphere, yet their triggering mechanisms remain unclear. Ground-based observations have identified wave-like aurora as precursors to substorms.
History and the Road to 2024
The single most predictive factor for midterm election results is a sitting president's approval rating. According to the RCP Average, President Biden's current approval rating has dipped below the previous all-time low he recorded in November of 2021. Combine this with historical precedent that the incumbent's party faces a backlash at the midterms, and you begin to understand why experts are predicting Republicans will take back the House, possibly the Senate, too. But what about the presidency?

Moments in Time: Kanawha City High
Kanawha City High School -- Surprised? Most folks would be surprised to find that there was a high school in Kanawha City. At that time, it was called Owens, West Virginia -- a suburb of Charleston with a population of 2,000. The high school had six rooms and about 180 students. In 1928, the first graduating class consisted of four students, all girls. The following year there were eight. The high school even had a football team.
Moments in Time: Pool acrobat
By J. Waters/mywvhome.com A Dick Johnson photo Acrobat -- This never-before-published photo was taken at Rock Lake Pool sometime in the mid-1940s. That’s Bob Johnson standing on a chair that’s perched on two bottles. He was an acrobat that toured the country with his partner, Myriam France. This was the heyday of Rock Lake, with live radio shows and dances and special events taking place almost every week.
Moments in Time: The Open Door Mission
The Open Door Mission This photo shows the humble beginnings of the Open Door Mission, founded in 1937 at 124 Virginia St. E. by the Rev. B.G. Entsminger, who can be seen in the suit on the extreme right. The Open Door Mission went on to help thousands of people in need, including an emergency home for the aged on Court Street and the House of Mercy Nursing Home on Quarrier Street.
Moments in Time: The Greystone
The Greystone The Greystone has been many things: a beautiful home, restaurant, motel, dormitory and church. This massive, perfectly symmetrical stone house was built at the end of Kanawha Boulevard East. Dr. John E. Cannady was one of the founders of Charleston General Hospital and built Greystone, but I’m not sure when. Both John Sr. and John Jr. (also a doctor) lived in the house until 1946 or 1947, when it was sold and turned into a restaurant. The motel was added later.
