Three of the five records were set in the 13-14 age group.
2019 SwimSquad Draft Analysis: Beisel Goes High-Risk, #1 Pick Pays Off
Over the weekend, four U.S. Olympians drafted ‘SwimSquads’ – essentially fantasy teams that will compete with one another over the 2019 Pro Swim Series, with a charity donation on the line. First, a quick look at our research.

Ryan Lochte Dipendente Dall'Alcol Cerca Un Trattamento Per Uscirne

He is the American record holder in the SCY 200 fly (1:37.35), which he set in the final race of his decorated NCAA career in March 2017. Texas’ 2015 NCAA title Conger’s sophomore year was the first of the school’s current four-year win streak.

The now 23-year-old set the previous standard of 51.76 four years ago in Incheon. Schooling, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist in this event, had the lead at the turn by just over a tenth in 23.79, with China’s Li Zhuhao back in 23.91.
Pan Pacs Day 3: Conger, McLaughlin Lock In 2019 Worlds Trips
Butterflyers Jack Conger and Katie McLaughlin locked in trips to the 2019 World Championships as a part of Team USA, the result of day 3 of the Pan Pacific Championships. Neither bettered their times from U.S. Nationals, but neither had to. Conger took silver behind Caeleb Dressel, and McLaughlin won the B final while second American Mallory Comerford failed to beat her time from Nationals.
Apple Replaces Conger, Grothe Finke On 2019 Worlds Roster
Zach Apple earned himself a 2019 Worlds relay spot in the 200 freestyle, avenging a Nationals DQ and bumping Jack Conger off that relay. Meanwhile Zane Grothe passed up Robert Finke for both the Pan Pacs silver medal and the 2019 Worlds spot in the 1500. Conger is slated to make the Worlds team in the 100 fly. Finke, however, now gets bumped to the World University Games team for 2019.
2018 Pan Pacs: Biggest ‘Bump’ Opportunities for U.S. 2019 Worlds Team
2018 PAN PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIPS Thursday, August 9th – Sunday, August 12th Tatsumi International Swim Center, Tokyo, Japan LCM Meet Central Psych Sheets With USA Swimming selecting its 2019 World Championships roster based on combined results of 2018 Nationals and 2018 Pan Pacs, this week’s Pan Pacific Championships’ meet-within-a-meet will be the competition between U.S. swimmers for top-2 billing in each event.
Michael Andrew Enters 100 Back at Pan Pacs
American 19-year old swimmer Michael Andrew will swim 4 events at the 2018 Pan Pac Championships. Three of them are races that he directly qualified for by way of a top 3 position at US Nationals: the 50 free (which he won), the 100 breast (which he also won), and the 100 fly (where he placed 3rd behind Caeleb Dressel and Jack Conger).
Was U.S. Nationals at Meet Dominated by Favorites or Underdogs?
During the early part of last weekend’s U.S. National Championships, it seemed like many of the pre meet favorites were all hype. Justin Wright and Zach Harting went 1-2 in the men’s 200 fly ahead of Jack Conger. Blake Pieroni won the men’s 100 free, not all-everything star Caeleb Dressel. Andrew Seliskar won the men’s 200 free over favored Townley Haas. On the other hand, there were plenty of events where the top seeds dominated.
Brendan Hansen Gave Michael Andrew Breaststroke Advice Before his Triple (Video)
If there were any questions about Caeleb Dressel at this meet, he put them to rest tonight. Dressel, who finished 6th in the 100 free earlier in the meet and took a narrow loss to Michael Andrew in the 50 fly, busted through the back half here to get the job done. Dressel is now on the Pan Pacs team, winning with the 10th fastest American performance ever in 50.50.

2018 U.S. Nationals: Day 3 Pan Pacs (& More) Projected Roster Updates
Doubles are extremely scarce three day into U.S. Nationals, suggesting that 3rd-place finishers might be in tough shape to make the Pan Pacs squad. Through three days, we only have two priority 1 doubles on the men’s side and just one on the women’s side. We were just able to lock in the top two second-placers in modified world rank on the men’s side (Jay Litherland and Jacob Pebley), but the rest of the second-placers are still waiting for official Pan Pacs selection.
Crisis Averted: 100 Fly Helps Secure Pan Pacs for Dressel, Conger
Ok, in the grand scheme of things, “crisis” might be a little strong. But we weren’t expecting either Caeleb Dressel or Jack Conger to still need to nail down their spots on the Pac Pacs roster on the third day of the meet, and the USA’s Pan Pacs roster was going to look quite a bit different than expected if neither man qualified.
USA Swimming Summer Nationals Day 3 Photo Vault
Irvine never disappoints when it comes to championship swimming. It’s been a great week so far at the 2018 USA Swimming Summer Nationals. We are so excited to have the unique perspective of swim photographer Mike Lewis capturing the action this week. Here’s more the great swimming photography from day 3.

But fears were assuaged this evening as Dressel blasted a 50.50 to take 1st, and Conger finished a stroke behind him in 51.11.
Why'd Zach Harting Go So Fast? He Drinks From A Gas Can (Video)
Arizona’s Justin Wright, a newly signed pro with A3, brought the thunder tonight. Coming into this meet, he had never been under 1:56. Wright was 7th through the halfway mark and 5th going into the final lap, but he stuck to his race plan and brought it home, dropping another second in 1:54.53. He’s now the 7th fastest American in history, just 6 hundredths behind Jack Conger.

2018 U.S. Nationals: Day 1 Pan Pacs (& More) Projected Roster Updates
It was a day 1 full of shocks, as the first swimmers to etch their names on the American Pan Pacs roster aren’t the ones most expected. Justin Wright and Blake Pieroni won events on the men’s side, while Caeleb Dressel and Jack Conger missed the first wave of qualifying. With no doubles yet in the books, only the top priority finishers are officially locked onto teams.
Gianluca Urlando Becomes No. 2 15-16 American Performer in 200 Fly
In finals on night one of the 2018 Phillips National Championships, Gianluca Urlando became the No. 2 15-16 American performer of all-time in the men’s 200 fly, trailing only Michael Phelps (1:54.58). Urlando split 25.79/28.98/ 30.04/30.40 en route to his final time of 1:55.21, which tied him for third along with Jack Conger Wednesday.
2018 U.S. Nationals Day 1 Finals Preview: Adrian’s Streak on the Line
Night one of the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships will feature finals for the men’s and women’s 200 fly and 100 free, as well as the men’s 1500 free and the women’s 800 free. In prelims this morning, Georgia post-grad Hali Flickinger took down a 37-year-old U.S. Open record, dropping a 2:05.87. Her time ranks as her the third-fastest American ever, and second fastest in the world this year. The only question that remains: does she have a shot at Mary Descenza‘s American record of 2:04.14?
2018 U.S. Nationals Previews: Conger-Clark-Kalisz Rematch in 200 Fly
After an incredibly close finish at 2017 nationals, we’ll get to see a rematch between Jack Conger, Chase Kalisz, and Pace Clark in the 200 fly. It’s tough to say who will come out on top of this race, with Conger and Kalisz separated by just 2 tenths this season. Given that Kalisz is pretty much a lock to qualify for Pan Pacs in the 400 IM, he may not need to rest too much for this meet, leaning the favor slightly towards Conger.
2018 U.S. Nationals Preview: Veterans Collide with Short Course Studs in Men’s 200 Free
Check out all of our U.S. Nationals previews here With this summer’s USA Nationals serving as the selection meet for both Pan Pacs and next year’s World Championships, we’re going to look at the men’s 200 free with an eye toward 2019. While team USA surged to an easy victory in the 4×200 free relay in Rio, things weren’t so pretty at the 2015 or 2017 World Champs. Lacking Phelps in 2015 and Phelps and Lochte in 2017, the USA could only manage minor medals at those meets.
Conor Dwyer In 100/200 Free & 200 IM At Nationals, Still No 400 Free
3-time Olympic medalist Conor Dwyer is scheduled to swim the 100/200 free and 200 IM at U.S. Nationals next week in Irvine, California. The 29 year-old has been mostly absent from competition in 2018, only competing in two meets – last week’s Los Angeles Invite and April’s TYR Pro Swim Series in Mesa where he only swam prelims of the 200 free (1:49.45). In L.A., Dwyer put together a string of good performances in the 100 free (49.38), 2o0 free (1:47.28), and 200 IM (2:02.37).
No 100 Free For Conger, 200 Fly For Dahlia At U.S. Nationals
Both Jack Conger and Kelsi Dahlia were faced with the same question this year as they were last heading into U.S. Nationals: 200 fly or 100 free? With the two events falling back-to-back on day 1 of the meet, it wouldn’t make much sense to do both, though both are near the top of the country in them. Conger swam the 200 fly last year, winning the event, and Dahlia placed 4th in the 100 free and qualified for the 400 free relay in Budapest.
Blueseventy Swim the the Week: Conger Setting Up For Relay Heroics

The blueSeventy Swim is an opportunity to take a closer look at the context of one of the many fast swims this week, perhaps a swim that slipped through the cracks as others grabbed the headlines, or a race we didn’t get to examine as closely in the flood of weekly meets.
LA Invite Day 3: Scott Continues Stellar Meet, Dwyer Drops 1:47 200 Fr
The 2018 Los Angeles Invite continued Saturday with the men’s 1500, 200 free, and 400IM, women’s 200 IM and 400 free, and men’s and women’s 200 breast, 50 free, and 800 free relay. 2015 open water world champ and Rio 1500 finalist Jordan Wilimovsky, of Team Santa Monica, continued his distance dominance winning the 1500 in 15:14.32. In second was Yutian Wang in 15:39.18, and Nova’s Brandon Samaniego in 15:56.88.
