TacitVLA: Reasoning Vision-Language-Action Models Without Reasoning Latency
Published on Oct 13 · Submitted by Jack Lu on Oct 14 · NVIDIA Abstract Textual reasoning before acting has improved vision-language-action (VLA) models, but at the cost of latency: every action conditioned on the reasoning text must wait for autoregressive decoding. We show that actions do not need to wait for or condition on the generated reasoning to benefit from it, because the reasoning supervision already improves the backbone representation.

Long-form thinking traces can substantially improve the multi-step reasoning performance of large language models (LLMs), but they introduce high inference-time overhead, with latency dominated by sequential decoding.

Retired judge grades Trump's judicial appointees - and finds some have 'lost their way'
It still chokes me up a little when I remember the moment when Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney swore me in, my right hand raised, as a Massachusetts Superior Court judge, saying, “Do you promise that you will defend and support the United States Constitution and the Massachusetts Constitution, so help you, God?” This oath choked me up every time I took it over the last 22 years. The Trump judges must have taken the same oath, yet some have lost their way.
