What was your first job as a journalist?
My first role as a journalist was at Capital Current, but my first full time job has been with Postmedia.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I have not, but I wish I could have! I love my clack-y mechanical keyboard enough as it is...
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Maybe not a great role model but I'm particular to J. Jonah Jameson!
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer email!
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Wordpress, and Photoshop primarily. Occasionally multimedia tools such as social media, Flourish, etc.
What's your favorite social network?
I'm particular to Twitter and Threads for live updates and discussion.
Why did you become a journalist?
I am naturally a curious person, I love learning, and I love storytelling. News and history have always been of interest.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I am most proud about my story on the Car 60 team in PG, as it was born out of curiosity but resonated extremely well within the community.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Immerse yourself in the community in every way you can! Follow social media circles, attend events, sign up for things, and volunteer!
When's the best time to pitch you?
I am always open to ideas at any time during the work day.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I haven't received a pitch so far that hasn't had some merit. Occasionally I get story ideas from Prince George county in Maryland though!
What's your favorite drink?
I love cream soda!
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Asleep...
