The 2018 version of the tournament is being held at Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Long Grove, Ill. To promote the event, Kang showed off her game on a Chicago River bridge of all places. She chipped onto an island green on the river and then talked to Pat Boyle about the 2018 event and what it meant to win her first major last year.
Chicago PD weighs in on tickle fest between Cubs and Marlins
All rise! Cubs Kangaroo Court is now in session. In today's case, plaintiff Starlin Castro suffered unsolicited tickling in the fourth inning of the May 8 Chicago Cubs vs. Miami Marlins game from defendant Kris Bryant. A concerned fan tweeted at Chicago Police's 14th District's account asking if Bryant could get in trouble for the tickle offense. Their verdict is in. There is no charge for Aggravated Tickling so we will refer this case to the @Cubs Kangaroo Court.
Kris Bryant makes a special kind of personal history with 100th homer
Kris Bryant is now a part of the 100 Home Run Club. The Cubs superstar connected on a line shot into the left-field bleachers Wednesday afternoon off Wei-Yin Chen. What's even more special is it came on the three-year anniversary of his first MLB homer. After a slow start at the plate in the power department (just 2 homers on May 1), Bryant has turned it on of late, sending balls into the stands four times over the last week. He now has 6 homers, 16 RBI and a 1.001 OPS on the 2018 season.

Javy Baez brushes off minor injury and sets his sights on Gold Glove
Breathe easy, Cubs fans. El Mago should be back in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Miami Marlins. Javy Baez had to leave Monday night's blowout win with a groin issue after doing the splits on a throw from Kris Bryant at second base earlier in the contest.
SportsTalk Live Podcast: Could the Cubs deal for Manny Machado?
SportsTalk Live comes at you live from Wrigley Field for Cubs Authentic Fan Night!! Plus, we catch up with Holly to see how life is in Miami working under Derek Jeter.
Ozzie Guillen won't stand for your slander
Ozzie Guillen could write 20 books full of memories from the annual Crosstown series between the Cubs and White Sox, he said, but one expletive-filled story would definitely get the nod for Chapter 1. In the May 2007 edition of the Addison-Sox/35th Red Line showdown, Guillen called into 670 The Score to defend his sitting of A.J Pierzynski in a 6-3 loss to the Cubs to host Mike North, who was arguing in Pierzynski's favor.
Manny Machado to the...Cubs?
They say money can't buy happiness. But money can buy Manny Machado. And maybe Manny Machado is what the Cubs need for to break out of their lackluster hitting performance this season. With the team currently sitting in fourth place of the NL Central, the bat-popping (and Albert Almora's childhood teammate) Machado is looking like the saving pick-me-up the team could need. In 2018, he's currently batting .346 with 45 hits just in 34 games - racking up a 1.83 WAR.

One of the icons of DePaul athletics is sticking around. Monday, DePaul extended the contract of women's basketball head coach Doug Bruno through the 2023-24 season. Bruno just wrapped up his 32nd season as head coach of his alma mater, leading DePaul to its 16th consecutive NCAA Tournament. While the Blue Demons were eliminated in the Round of 32 this March, Bruno has led the program to the Sweet 16 three times in eight seasons.
Trump's ban causes 'fear and chaos'
While the ban on admitting citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries to the U.S. came as a shock to Aymen Abdel Halim, his organization, Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, had already been preparing Chicago-area Muslims for something like this after Trump’s election.
Loyola rewards Porter Moser with multi-year contract extension
Loyola is rewarding Porter Moser for his basketball team's success this season. Loyola and Moser have agreed to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday. Loyola is rewarding Porter Moser for his basketball team's success this season. Loyola and Moser have agreed to a multi-year contract extension, according to the Chicago Tribune. The deal is reportedly through the 2026 season. That's a well-deserved extension for a head coach who led the Ramblers to a NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1985. As the 11th seed, Loyola exceeded all expectations in the tournament, shocking the world with a Final Four appearance.
Why Tarik Cohen is so excited to be a part of Matt Nagy's offense
We’re a little under five months away from the first meaningful snap of the Matt Nagy era, but since it’s April, it’s a good time to daydream about what the Bears’ offense could look like in 2018. So let’s add to that what Tarik Cohen had to say on Wednesday about his early impressions of Nagy’s offense. “It can be dominant,” Cohen said. “… We have a whole lot of pieces on offense.
Welcome home: Hester, Forte will retire as Bears
Former Chicago Bears Devin Hester and Matt Forte announced they will sign one-day contracts with the team April 23 to retire as members of the Bears organization. Both Hester and Forte spent their first eight seasons playing football for Chicago, and their legacy will now be retired in orange and navy.
Three 'LB or OL?' decision points for Bears' pick at No. 8 overall
Much more is going on this week at Halas Hall besides just the introductory minicamp under coach Matt Nagy, where evaluations are obviously part of the days’ (and after-hours’) activities. But those evaluations are preliminary. The ones going on upstairs in the offices of GM Ryan Pace’s draft staffers are far from preliminary at this point of eight days before the draft.

Both Hester and Forte spent their first eight seasons playing football for Chicago, and their legacy will now be retired in orange and navy.
Tyler Chatwood channels his inner Greg Maddux with an absolutely gross pitch
The Cubs retired No. 31, but you can't blame somebody if they were seeing things and mistook a "2" for a "3." (It also could've been the 29-degree windchill distorting things.) Wearing his No. 21 jersey, Tyler Chatwood gave fans flashbacks to Greg Maddux in the first inning of Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals.
How does baseball fix weather issues? Cubs have ideas, but there probably is no solution
In fact, give any player a break if they say they think Major League Baseball should play fewer games. A 162-game season is absolutely bonkers as is. Who decided baseball should play twice as many games as every other American professional sport? But this is how it is now and that will not change. Blame revenue, blame the statistical purity of the game, blame whatever. Baseball will not reduce their schedule from 162 games.
Bucket list unfulfilled: unlucky Cubs fan travels from Down Under, welcomed by Chiberia in April
Thinking about how much these postponed baseball games have ruined your past two days? It could be worse, Cubs fans. Meet Lincoln Hansen — Australia’s biggest Cubs fan and, well, quite possibly the unluckiest man in the world. Hansen hopped on that 25-plus hour flight from his native Gold Coast, Queensland area in hopes of seeing some North Side baseball that he’s been itching for for the past 16 years.
When They Were Prospects: Jose Abreu
With such a strong focus on current White Sox prospects, we thought it'd be fun to take a look back at statistics and scouting reports of other South Side stars on their journey to the MLB. Our Chris Kamka dug deep into the numbers. Before Jose Abreu became the MLB powerhouse that all South Side fans came to know and love, he was a slugging prospect playing in his native Cuba. There were first reports of him leaving Cuba Aug. 11, 2013, and he signed with the White Sox just 79 days later on Oct. 29.

Master of the future: Illinois' elite golfer
Andrew Lim stood on those crisp Augusta, Georgia greens ready to compete and represent all of Illinois. The 13-year-old Naperville resident — and the only Illinoisan in the competition — participated in the Drive, Chip and Putt on Sunday. The contest — founded in 2013 by Master Tournament, United States Golf Association and The PGA of America — invites some of the nation’s best golfers ages 7-15 to suit up and work on some fundamentals. He finished in sixth place for his age group.

Mookie Betts can't help but react to Kris Bryant's triple
When spring training can get a little...well...boring, the pros know how to spice the games up. Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts was mic’d up during a Tuesday matinee against the Cubs and as Kris Bryant smoked a triple over him during his in-game interview, he wasn’t afraid to hide his reaction.
SportsTalk Live Podcast: Who should the Bears sign, Allen Hurns or Cam Meredith?
Kyle Fuller caused a bit of a panic late Friday afternoon when a report dropped that he signed an offer sheet with the Green Bay Packers. For a few hours, the prospect — even if it was always unlikely — of the Bears losing their best cornerback to their arch rivals to the north loomed over Chicago. For Fuller, though, he said he barely had time to think about the possibility of cashing in on his breakout 2017 season with the Packers.

That's right, Chicago. John Fox is coming to a studio near you
So apparently John Fox is getting bored. The former Bears head coach who led the team to three consecutive last-place seasons from 2015-17 just signed with ESPN as a NFL studio analyst.
Scott Darling victorious in return to United Center
It hasn't been the breakout year as a starter that Scott Darling was hoping for, but the former Blackhawk got a win in his old stadium on Thursday night. Darling made 22 saves in a 3-2 Hurricanes win at the United Center. It marked Darling's first game back in Chicago after he played for the Blackhawks each of the past three seasons. The Blackhawks honored Darling with a video during the game, although Darling said he missed some of it.
Blackhawks re-sign Rutta as 2018-19 blue line continues to take shape
It looks like the Blackhawks will have a very similar blue line in the 2018-19 season. Tuesday, the Blackhawks and 25-year-old Erik Gustafsson agreed to a two-year contract extension. Thursday, the team agreed to a one-year deal with defenseman Jan Rutta, which reportedly is worth $2.25 million. Rutta, 27, leads Blackhawks' defensemen with six goals this season, his first in the NHL. The Blackhawks signed him last summer after he received interest from multiple NHL teams.
Blackhawks fans, Coach Q earn high marks in NHL players poll
When it comes down to ranking the intricacies of the NHL, whose opinion is better to trust than the players themselves? The National Hockey League’s Players Association polled over 500 current players with issues like ranking coaches, officials, teams and on-ice matters on the ballot. The results?
Blackhawks snag Erik Gustafsson for two more years
The Blackhawks have snagged defenseman Erik Gustafsson for two more seasons on a contract extension. The Sweden native has notched five points in 19 games with the Hawks this year including a goal made during his season debut Jan. 20 versus the New York Islanders.
Blackhawks continue to wear jersey with pride
Blackhawks continue to wear jersey with pride Blackhawks continue to wear jersey with pride To put it frankly, the Blackhawks aren’t used to losing. The team is entering their 67th game Tuesday night with 30 losses, a number the franchise has not seen since the 2007-08 season when it recorded 34 losses. Despite the woes of this season, players are still bringing their best every night.
Have the Blackhawks quit? You just got your answer
If you're wondering whether or not the Blackhawks have quit on this season, you just got your answer. After an embarrassing 7-2 loss in San Jose on Thursday, the Blackhawks turned back the clock and channeled some late-game magic by ralling from two goals down and scoring four unanswered goals in the third period to stun the Los Angeles Kings 5-3 on Saturday. It was like 2013 all over again.
Forget about wins and losses, rest of Blackhawks season will serve as evaluation period
The Blackhawks were steamrolled in San Jose 7-2 on Thursday night, and normally in this space we'd provide five things to take away from the game. But at this point, the wins and losses don't matter. The 63 games leading up to Monday's trade deadline was about evaluating the roster and how they all fit together. After dealing Ryan Hartman and Tommy Wingels, that was the official declaration that the Blackhawks are turning the page to next season.
In wake of trade deadline moves, here are the top five Blackhawks age 25 and under
There’s no shortage of talent with the Blackhawks youngins. NBC Sports Chicago Blackhawks analyst Steve Konroyd named the top five active players ages 25 and younger. Not only does this defensmen have a great shot, but he also has great attitude on the ice. And just like the young kids, he has a certain toughness to him and is not afraid to be rough out there. The Chicago native and left wing is one of the fastest players on the team, which makes him an energizer on the ice.
Changes aren't exactly popular, but Cubs and Sox - except maybe Willson Contreras - will adapt to baseball's new pace-of-play rules
MESA, Ariz. — We know Willson Contreras doesn’t like baseball’s new pace-of-play rules. He isn’t the only one. “I think it’s a terrible idea. I think it’s all terrible,” Jon Lester said last week at spring training, before the specifics of the new rules were even announced.
Albert Almora's strong connection to Team USA baseball
Who was Theo Epstein’s first draft pick with the Cubs? The answer to that trivia question will always and forever be Albert Almora Jr. picked sixth overall in the 2012 amateur draft. In some ways, the young outfielder from Florida became the forgotten man in the stable of can’t-miss prospects that Epstein and top lieutenants Jed Hoyer and Jason MacLeod amassed since their arrival over six years ago.
Willson Contreras willing to pay the price for mound visits
News broke to Willson Contreras that the league will be limiting mound visits this upcoming season, and the Cubs catcher —notorious for his frequent visits to the rubber — is not having it. “I’ve been reading a lot about this rule, and I don’t really care. If you have to go again and pay the price for my team, I will," he said. The new rules rolled out Tuesday will limit six visits —any time a manager, coach or player visits the mound — per nine innings.

The new Yankees? High-priced Yu Darvish joins Cubs and makes World Series expectations even bigger
MESA, Ariz. — Face it, folks. The Cubs are the new Yankees. That, of course, is no bad thing if you’re a Cubs fan. After all, the Yankees built a dynasty in the 1990s that brought four championships to the Bronx in a five-year span. Seeing something like that on the North Side would be quite the polar opposite of a century of lovable losing. But that’s exactly what the Cubs are built to do.
Watch Yu Darvish's first appearance with Cubs
And finally, the moment the North Side has been waiting for. Yu Darvish made his first appearance with the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday — officially sporting a No. 11 jersey. The righty — signed with the team through the 2023 season for $126 million— said he chose the Cubs because the team stood out to him among other suitors. “[The team has a] great roster — each pitcher is great,” Darvish said through a translator.
Cubs didn't fret over Fall Classic struggles: 'We know there's more to Yu Darvish than what happened in the World Series'
MESA, Ariz. — Yu Darvish is a really, really good pitcher. But he most definitely wasn't during last year's World Series. Pitching with the Los Angeles Dodgers on baseball's biggest stage, Darvish was rocked by the Houston Astros, who had a tendency to do that to opposing pitchers with their murderer's row of a lineup. Darvish made two starts in the Fall Classic, though his performances were anything but classic.
SportsTalk Live Podcast: Will Bulls make any more moves before the trade deadline?
On the latest SportsTalk Live Podcast, David Schuster (670 The Score), Sam Panayotovich (VSIN) and Shae Peppler (FOX 32) join Kap on the panel. The NBA trade deadline is approaching. Will the Bulls make any more moves? And with the Cavs in freefall, should GarPax phone Cleveland to see if LeBron James is available? Plus, should the Blackhawks’ “One Goal” be to focus on next season? And does the Josh McDaniels’ situation make the Bears look even better?
Bulls rank top 5 in NBA franchise value
Team record? Eh. Team value? No worries here. The Bulls are sitting pretty with the fourth-highest value of all NBA teams, valued at $2.6 billion. These evaluations are coming from Forbes, who released their annual Business of Basketball list — a way to rank each team’s worth and revenue—on Wednesday. With its current value, the Bulls only trail the New York Knicks ($3.6 billion), Los Angeles Lakers ($3.3 billion) and Golden State Warriors ($3.1 billion). But what does this mean for the team?
Kris Dunn back at Bulls practice, and with all of his teeth
Kris Dunn has never been one to play with fear, so even though his concussion triggered a three-week recovery period, it didn’t stop him from watching the scary fall against Golden State plenty of times. Perhaps it was therapeutic or even an exercise in realizing how lucky he was to retain all his teeth but Dunn is on the mend and hopes to be back on the floor soon as he returned to Bulls practice Wednesday afternoon. “I played football so as long as those were in there, I’m good,” Dunn said.
Nikola Mirotic day after trade craziness: 'We don't have to rush to make a decision'
There he was, Nikola Mirotic going through morning shootaround with his teammates at Portland’s Moda Center as if there wasn’t a storm of confusion swirling around. Mirotic plans to play against the Trail Blazers unless something more develops, but from the Bulls’ standpoint, they’ve done their part in accommodating Mirotic. Even though Lauri Markkanen is out for personal reasons, Mirotic won’t start; Paul Zipser will.
Former Bull Rasual Butler, wife die in car accident
Former Bulls guard Rasual Butler and his wife have died in a car accident Wednesday morning, TMZ reports. Around 2 a.m., the car struck a parking meter, slammed into a wall and flipped in Studio City, CA. His wife, Leah LeBelle, was an R&B singer signed with Epic Records.
