Interview
What was your first job as a journalist?
I wrote for local newsweekly called The Dark Horse doing movie reviews in high school.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, when I was a kid my parents had an old one in the basement office. It seemed so cool, then!
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
By email so I can see the ideas of the article clearly laid out. On the phone, I tend to talk too much!
What's your favorite social network?
Facebook.
Who do you wish followed you?
Rachel Maddow, Steven Colbert, Melissa Harris-Perry
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes, I founded it and it was still going strong last I checked. At my high school reunion they had copies of it displayed--I was so proud!
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I wrote about tribal sovereignty and how our Native nations could preserve the gains they've made in the last 50 years.
When's the best time to pitch you?
From 10am - 4pm Pacific Standard Time
