Summary Fewer adolescents identified an ill or disabled relative at home compared with their parents. Few dyads agreed both on the person who was ill or disabled and the illness or disability within the household. The dyads more often agreed when the ill or disabled relative had a serious somatic illness and was the mother. Among households with an ill or disabled relative, adolescents reported higher levels of caring activities, when contrasted with the proxy evaluation of their parents.
