Lumbosacral rotation flap: a simple method for covering sacral pressure injuries
Pressure injuries (PIs) are among the most common skin and soft tissue wounds occurring in patients who are bedbound and/or immobile. PI management hinges on their prevention; however, reoccurrence poses a challenge to their management and requires a multidisciplinary approach. Here, the authors describe a lumbosacral rotation flap (LSRF) for the coverage of sacral PIs. A single-centre, retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data was carried out.
Confusion, Confusion And More Confusion!
The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) passed an order directing the Government of Pakistan to release Rs 21 billion to the Election Commission of Pakistan to enable elections in Punjab on May 14th, 2023. SCP thought that it was necessary to comply with the constitutional provision of holding elections within 90 days of dissolution of assemblies. The government defeated the move through various means and, ultimately, it appears that the SCP has finally decided not to implement its order aggressively.
An Ignominious History
On April 24 1954, Governor General, Ghulam Muhammad dissolved the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan. The matter was challenged by Maulvi Tameez Uddin Khan, President of the Assembly, in the Central Court Sindh on October 8 1954. The Central Court unanimously overturned the Governor General’s decision of dissolving the Assembly. The Government went in appeal in the Federal Court (then equivalent of present-day Supreme Court).
Dysfunctional Institutions And Nation’s Plight
Whether the case regarding holding of elections within 90 days of the dissolution of assemblies should be heard by the full court, as demanded by the Federal Government and many political parties, or by the depleted 3 Member Bench as insisted by the Chief Justice Bandial? Another matter with no hope of an amicable outcome.
The Fight For Land
Land is perhaps the most important natural resource a country has. It is scarce. It has many uses. It is a source of power; it provides food; and on it we build our shelters. There is no state without land. The same land on which we live was the abode of our ancestors and shall also be the abode of our future generations. Housing is a basic need of every human being. One of the measures of poverty of a country is the number of homeless people in that country.
A History Littered With Prime Ministers, Wars And Economic Woes: Where Is Pakistan Today?
In the list of Prime Ministers of Pakistan, given on the website of National Assembly of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is at number 31. An analysis of the data given on that page leads to some interesting facts. Liaqat Ali Khan, the first PM, has served the longest that is 4 years 2 months and 2 days. Z.A.Bhutto’s tenure as PM was shorter than this (14.08.1973-05.07.1977). Nawaz Sharif’s name appears four times in this list.
Crisis Of Credibility
Today Pakistan faces many crises. Economic and political crises top the list of many crises we are facing. But real crisis of the state of Pakistan is that of credibility. ‘The Quaid-e-Azam was a westernised person and he used the slogan of Islam for his political benefit. He was a non-practicing Muslim.’ We often hear this from the people who are after all not persons of insignificant stature.
Living In The Past
The story of fida’in or hashishiyyin has captured the attention of historians in particular and common Europeans in general for the last 1200 years. Their killing of the prominent people in twelfth century including an attempt on the life of Sala’din Ayubi is quite famous in the historical records. However, their fame or notoriety, is more due to the fable of paradise said to be created by one Hassan Bin Sabah.
It Was The Season Of Darkness
‘It was the worst of times, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Darkness, it was the winter of despair, we had nothing before us.’ I have borrowed these lines from the opening paragraph of Charles Dickens famous novel A Tale of Two Cities for I haven’t come across a more powerful expression to describe an era that has plagued my generation since the beginning of our youth.
Will We Have Our Glorious Revolution?
The year 1688 was a significant one in England’s history. James II (1685-1688) was the King of England, Ireland and Scotland in that year. Like all monarchs of that time, he enjoyed absolute control on the resources of the country. King and his henchmen enjoyed monopolistic rights on several profitable businesses. This resulted in the economic exploitation of the common man. James II was not the first King in English history to exploit his people. His predecessors had also been doing the same.
Automated QA Testing at EA: Driven by Events
To millions of game geeks, the position of QA (quality assurance) tester at Electronic Arts must seem like a dream job. But from the company's perspective, the overhead associated with QA can look downright frightening, particularly in an era of massively multiplayer games. Hence the appeal of automated QA testing, which has the potential to be faster, more cost-effective, more efficient, and more scalable than manual testing.
