Seditionaries: The Shop That Transformed Fashion
Having been converted during the latter half of the 19th century from a three-storey house into a pawnbroker’s shop with a flat above it, 430 King’s Road in Chelsea played host to eclectic businesses during the ensuing decades. These included a café, a scooter shop and, by the 1960s, various fashion outlets including Mr Freedom and Paradise Garage.
Tribal Dance: Music Dress Codes
There are endless examples of fashion trends – some compelling, others a bit crap – which we generally understand will be fleeting. Then there are subcultures. And even though these also peak then gradually fizzle out, or evolve into another subcultural mutation, they feel considerably more substantial than mere trends. Why so?
WATCH: Leigh Bowery's Best On-Screen Moments Ahead Of Tate Modern Exhibition

Princess Julia: The People’s Princess
Princess Julia is a much-loved monarch who has reigned across the past five decades of London’s subcultural and nocturnal scenes. She once admitted she’s gone out every single night, dressed up to the max, since 1976 and rightfully commands style icon status. Julia Fodor is the original multi-hyphenate, too, long-since DJing-singing-modelling-writing-painting- teaching-performing and clubbing-clubbing-clubbing.
