Easter Grief as a Gift
When someone close to you dies - family, a dear friend, or someone important in your life - you will hopefully get a whole lot of support and well-intentioned advice about grief. I did, and I am very grateful that I have many people in my life who cared enough to do so. The reality of grieving can be very different from the one- or two-line inspirational summations that life-lesson gurus offer up. This weekend is Easter, apivotal celebration in the Christian faith where we celebrate the risen Lord.
Letting go of who he was enables me to fully embrace who I am, & who I want to be.
James Anok · Follow 4 min read · -- My father turned 90 this weekend and on the heels of my mother’s death in October last year I’ve had to regularly reassess our relationship. But sometimes there are poisonous splinters of belief that are embedded so deep that they fester unseen and erupt when the grace and blessings of faith are needed most. As I witness this, I cannot keep silent.
Pride NOT Fear
"Fear is the mind killer..." Every year around this time a bright shimmering constellation of prismatic ephemera begins to appear in the media multiverse as well as on buildings and in stores. And every year around this time a dimmer constellation of fear is stoked back into life to burn back into fiery destructiveness once again. Unfortunately, what should have been the eventual sputtering and guttering of that fearful flame after last year's Pride events did not happen.
