How Amadeus Empowers Women Inventors
Home Blog Articles Give to Gain: how Amadeus is empowering women inventors Did you know that in Europe, only 13% of patented inventors are women? I hear a lot of statistics in my day to day, but this one stuck with me. Imagine the innovation we’re missing out on. As the Head of Intellectual Property at Amadeus, I know that women have no shortage of ideas and inventive thinking, I see it every day.
Amadeus Launches ENABLE: Empowering Disability Inclusion and Allyship
Disability is part of the human experience. Over the course of our lives, many of us will face a temporary or permanent disability — whether through age, illness, or accident. In fact, 1.3 billion people globally, or 16% of the world’s population, live with a disability. By 2050, more than 20% of the global population will be over the age of 65. These are not distant statistics; they are a reflection of our families, our colleagues, and our communities.
Fated Verses
A poem James Berry · Follow Published in Fated Verses · 1 min read · -- Image courtesy of James Berry Was it fate that brought me here? A tragic life severe, Was it the soft whisper of an unseen tear, Was it moving forward in spite of fear? All the things I’ve never said, Echo round, and round in my head. My heart bleeds the ink these lines are fed, A heart that boasts of all its bled. A method to find is lost in want, What did you mean is a welcome taunt.
You Are Eternal, Aren’t You?
An Idiot’s Guide To Eternity James Berry · Follow Published in Know Thyself, Heal Thyself · 4 min read · -- Photo by Nick Fewings on Unsplash As I sit here with my coffee, listening to my instrumental music and reading medium articles, the nagging thought is getting too strong for me to resist: Eternity. Before I knew Jesus at a young age, something occurred to me after learning about a universal law regarding energy. Specifically, the law of conservation.
Why I Love KTHT And Medium
How I Finally Found My Home. James Berry · Follow Published in Know Thyself, Heal Thyself · 4 min read · -- Photo by "My Life Through A Lens" on Unsplash Let me start this by saying I Love Medium, and I wish that I had more time to write, I have been a little busier than usual and haven’t been able to find the time to write like I want to. I am thankful to KTHT for taking a chance on me as a writer, and I get inspired when others engage with my work.
Vacuum Sealed in a Moment in Time
Where nostalgia fascinates a grown boy’s heart. James Berry · Follow Published in Know Thyself, Heal Thyself · 3 min read · -- Photo by Willian Justen de Vasconcellos on Unsplash The walls are yellow, dripping with nicotine. A giant chainsaw sits menacingly in the corner, a hat collection so vast I never bothered to count lines on the ceiling telling me the names of various battleships. High above, out of my reach, sits a live hand grenade on the windowsill.

Meaning
Photo by Ramadhan Azmi on Unsplash James Berry · Follow 2 min read · -- Try and explain tomorrow to a dying man, Try and understand love like the heartbroken can. Try and teach human life to a star, Try and convince a pacifist to spar. Try and convey wealth to the poor But a whisper in a moment of time, Trying to unlock the prison known as my mind. Tomorrow sorrow surely will I find, But trying to understand God with a finite mind.
Reflection
Photo by Mick Haupt on Unsplash James Berry · Follow 4 min read · -- They say nothing in Gods world happens by mistake. So is it the fact that God loves me so, that he chose me to become an addict? That he gave me the only disease known to mankind that forces me to rely on God, while most of society views us as scum? Is calling it a disease an elaborate cover-up for our moral failing or lack of will power? Just don’t use… How many times did I just not want to use.
Poor Things and the Pursuit of Pleasure
The core of our identity is defined by what we love, and the purpose of our lives is the pursuit of this love. Yorgos Lanthimos’s extraordinary film, Poor Things (2023), is a cinematic demonstration of this reality played out in the lives of odd, brilliantly acted characters living in a spectacularly off-kilter world. Lanthimos is a master at creating worlds mostly resembling our own, yet possessing an oddly affected bent that reflects a dark and scathing image of our world.
So, what is your job?
There’s an old story, I’m not sure if it’s true but it goes like this: US President John F Kennedy was visiting NASA in 1961. While he was there, he shook hands with hundreds of members of the NASA team. At one point, he shook hands with a man wearing a janitor’s coverall. “What do you do?” asked the President. “Why, I’m helping to put a man on the moon Sir!” said the janitor. Contrast this with conversations about work and roles we may have at networking events or even social functions.
How My Depression Revealed My New North Star
It was a humbling experience, but one I feel is important to share: Although I am a 20-year veteran of psychiatry and the chair of a major department in the field, for months I failed to identify my own severe depression and resisted getting treatment, causing myself pain and harm. How could this happen? Well, doctors are clearly not immune from the proverbial saying that the shoemaker goes barefoot.
