James Burchenal’s Biography

James Burchenal’s professional background brings together business, client service, real estate, and construction experience. Based in Cincinnati, he has worked in several different settings, each one helping him build practical skills in communication, planning, analysis, and relationship management. His career includes roles in finance, sales, education, real estate, and business ownership, giving him a broad view of how clients, markets, and operations connect.

James graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. His studies included intermediate macroeconomic and microeconomic theory, which helped him understand financial systems, market behavior, and decision-making. Outside the classroom, he was involved in varsity lacrosse and Sigma Chi. These experiences helped him build discipline, teamwork, and the ability to manage responsibilities in structured environments.

His early finance experience came through an investment internship at UBS Financial Services. While working with a top institutional consulting team, he helped review client accounts ranging from $1 million to over $25 million. His responsibilities included analyzing accounts and making recommendations. This gave him direct exposure to portfolio strategy, risk assessment, and financial decision-making, while also teaching him the importance of accuracy and careful judgment.

James later worked at Cincinnati Bell as an Outside Sales Manager. In that role, he focused on developing new business, identifying untapped markets, and building customer relationships. His efforts helped him secure approximately 50 new clients each month. This position helped him better understand customer needs, sales outreach, and the value of consistent follow-up.

His career also included time overseas in Prague, Czech Republic, where he taught English to more than 500 students weekly across multiple schools. He created lesson plans, worked with other educators, and communicated with parents. Teaching in an international environment helped him strengthen his organization, patience, and adaptability to diverse people and situations.

After returning to the United States, James joined Kreller Group as a professional sales representative and account manager. His work included customer acquisition, territory growth, and advising companies on credit and risk management practices. He also handled commercial credit reports and investigations while meeting and exceeding sales goals. This role combined financial review, sales performance, and client support.

In 2015, James became a licensed realtor with Comey and Shepherd. He supported buyers and sellers by analyzing properties, coordinating showings, negotiating contracts, and helping clients move through the transaction process. His real estate portfolio included properties ranging from $50,000 to $1.2 million. He also created marketing materials and maintained client communication through newsletters and direct outreach.

In 2022, James became co-owner of Monture Construction LLC in Mariemont, Ohio. His responsibilities include overseeing projects, managing client relationships, and helping guide company operations. His background in real estate, sales, finance, and negotiation supports his work in construction leadership and business management.

James has also been involved in community service through United Way’s Stepping Stones program, where he worked with students with disabilities. Earlier, he worked as a ranch hand at Two Creek Ranch in Montana, helping manage livestock and land. Outside of work, he enjoys hockey, rock climbing, camping, fly fishing, bird hunting, traveling, and weight training.

Throughout a career spanning several fields, James Burchenal has continued to apply steady work habits and practical judgment. His experience shows a consistent focus on serving clients, handling responsibilities carefully, and using lessons from each role to support the next.
