What was your first job as a journalist?
My first paid job was covering high school football for the Long Beach Press-Telegram.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
No, those are a little before my time.
How is social media changing news?
It is changing the way readers want to receive or view the news. It is also changing the way journalist share and break news.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Twitter or email
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Twitter, WordPress, Facebook Pages, Tweetdeck, Instagram, Snapchat
What's your favorite social network?
That is a tough question. I am a huge Twitter and Facebook user.
Why did you become a journalist?
I was always told I was a good writer in English classes and I played football in high school. I combined the two into a career.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, I think they actually did not have a school paper at my high school until about three years after I graduated.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
You need to have patience in this field but you also have to be a self-start at the same time and be willing to ask the tough questions.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime! News never stops so why should I.
