My first real journalism job was with Vanderbilt University's student newspaper, the Hustler.

Social Media has made news more widespread than ever before. It also allows for personalization, and helps niche news reach audiences.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Ford Prefect, a journalist for The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, one of my favorite books.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means you get the chance to share your voice and opinion on topics that matter to you with the whole world.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter. Twitter is a great place to find news of any sort, and also provides some comedic relief when it is needed.
Who do you wish followed you?
Ariel Helwani. Ariel is a journalist for ESPN covering MMA, NBA, and other sports and is one of my biggest role models.
Why did you become a journalist?
I have always had a passion for writing and making my voice heard, and journalism is a great way to share that with the world.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Spending time with family and friends, our outdoors.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
ESPN or Sports Illustrated. I love how both outlets cover sports, but also the stories behind sports, which are the most powerful part.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
How challenging it can be. Lots of research goes into each sports article, which may come as a surprise to some.
