Farmer Focus: Taxman won’t bother us this year
As a way of introduction, we took on a derelict 40ha farm 22 years ago with the naivety of youth and have been investing here ever since. I’ve always been involved in pedigree stock as a way of adding value to a small acreage. We have 100 Texel ewes, 16 Charollais ewes, 10 Beltex ewes and the children have 30 Blue Texel ewes. These had a teaser, lambed 10 days earlier and lambed very quickly, with lambs growing well.
Why is the media so obsessed with dogs? Asks James Kimber
Man’s best friend. Woman’s best friend. Everyone’s best friend. These may sound like bitter retorts from a cat-lover, but from working within media relations, one thing is clear – dogs are very much within the UK content-creation spectrum, and it seems like they’re here to stay. It’s everywhere to see – Wes Anderson’s latest stop-motion epic ‘Isle of Dogs’ has been leading the pack at the post-Oscars’ box office, and held an exhibition in London with hour-long queues snaking down the street.
FTIR spectroscopic imaging and mapping with correcting lenses for studies of biological cells and tissues
Histopathology of tissue samples is used to determine the progression of cancer usually by staining and visual analysis. It is recognised that disease progression from healthy tissue to cancerous is accompanied by spectral signature changes in the mid-infrared range. In this work, FTIR spectroscopic imaging in transmission mode using a focal plane array (96 × 96 pixels) has been applied to the characterisation of Barrett's oesophageal adenocarcinoma.
Phase One hosting Capture One web seminars this month
If you've recently made the switch to Capture One, still using the trial version or a seasoned vet interested in peaking into a fellow C1 pro's workflow, check out the webinars the company hosts. Phase One offers users a surprising amount of support for a company that still only has a niche of the creative community.
Time to internet! - James Kimber
Here's a list of things to read if you use Capture One. They're kinda ranked! The Image Quality Professor: If there's any question about Capture One, it's answered in this treasure trove or articles. Be cautious of GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). This is Phase One's official blog and they flaunt their high end camera systems frequently. Lately, it's been pretty keyed on Capture One specifically, so I think Phase is finally making a big push on their software.
Thegrid.io looks so promising, I jumped on the bandwagon
I'm feeling a bit like a whore. After spending a year having my website hosted on WordPress, I switched to Squarespace. The insanely easy content management system and simple templates was too easy of a choice for me.Now, the next best thing seems to have walked in the door and jameskimber.com may chase that skirt. The Grid is a startup promising that, using artificial intelligence, their publishing system will allow members to find or create content, then go back to whatever it is they were doing.
So what's with this PASS thing?
I uploaded a bunch of photos from the Far East Volleyball Tournament yesterday. And some people have asked me (some politely, some not so much so) what this PASS thing is all about or why someone like me uses it. OK. So PASS. Photographers either love them or hate them.
