South Africa: Mantashe Needs to Update Us On the Fuel Situation
press release South Africans are owed an update on the country's fuel situation. It's been fifteen days since Mineral and Petroleum Resources Minister last updated Parliament on our fuel position. He said supplies were assured until the end of April. The day before, he spoke to the Portfolio Committee where he agreed to provide regular updates to assist citizens and businesses with planning. We are now well into April and an update is overdue.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has delivered an official letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa, urging him to establish a Commission of Inquiry into the ongoing disaster at the Buffelsfontein Mine in Stilfontein, North West. South Africa: Government Needs to Step Up to Deal With the Buffelsfontein Zama Zamas
The saga of illegal miners reportedly trapped underground at the Buffelsfontein mine in North West has been in the media since November. Yesterday I went there to see for myself and to try and sort through the mass of contradictory reporting and find out what's really going on. Reports of the number of illegal miners vary from one or two hundred to thousands.

Residents living nearby the Zamimpilo settlement in Riverlea and in the area between Snake Road and Golden Drive in Benoni are being terrorized by killings, shootings and explosions daily. Both areas are the scene of extensive illegal gold mining operations.
South Africa: ANC Slow to Act Against Its Paymaster
South Africa should join the worldwide action to isolate Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his henchmen oligarchs. One of the top funders of the ANC in 2020 was a mining company jointly owned by a Russian oligarch close to Vladimir Putin and the ANC front company Chancellor House. Oligarch Victor Vekselberg owns 49% of South Africa's 4th largest manganese miner, United Manganese of Kalahari.
South Africa: Fishing Rights - Robbing Peter to Pay Paul a Pittance
press release By James Lorimer MP - DA Shadow Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries There's a resource grab happening in fishing. Minister Barbara Creecy has embarked on a program of taking fishing resources from successful individual small-scale fishers and putting them in the hands of the ANC created cooperatives, which have a 100% failure rate. Not a single fishing co-operative has ever successfully operated, created jobs, paid taxes or harvested their own fish.
South Africa: Ban On Travel for Hunting Is Without Sense
press release By James Lorimer MP - Shadow Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries This week's ban on cross-provincial travel for the purposes of hunting, and the ban on hunting overnight within provinces are huge blows to the game ranching industry. It makes little sense. Hunting is an activity that requires very little close human contact. It can only be done in small groups. It takes place in the outdoors.
