James Wusterbarth’s Biography

James Wusterbarth exemplifies an unwavering passion for continuous learning and skill development, building a life and career defined by growth and dedication. His qualifications are both diverse and distinguished, including multiple FAA Pilot Licenses and a DOT Merchant Mariner Master Captain’s License for vessels up to 25 tons, complemented by several boating instructor certifications. He also holds a PADI Master Diver certification, reflecting his deep enthusiasm for both aviation and maritime disciplines.

With over three decades of experience in emergency response, James is a FLETC Certified Backcountry Law Enforcement Ranger, a USPA Certified Skydiver, and a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Instructor. His commitment to safety and preparedness extends even further. He has served ten years with the National Ski Patrol, holds a DOI Red Card Wildland Firefighter certification, and is recognized as a National Registry Certified EMT, ICS Search and Rescue Coordinator, and FEMA SAR Manager.

Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, James took immediate emergency leave to volunteer at Ground Zero, applying his advanced EMS and SAR expertise under extremely hazardous conditions. This act of selfless service is emblematic of the thousands of hours he has devoted to global disaster and emergency response efforts throughout his life. As of 2023, his professional and humanitarian work has taken him to 34 countries, with residence or travel experience in over 50 nations worldwide.

His philanthropic contributions extend across the United States, where he has actively supported LGBTQ, hospice, and women’s charities and participated in fundraising initiatives for women’s shelters. In recognition of his outstanding dedication to service and gender equality, James was awarded the post-graduate "Women at Ground Zero Scholarship", becoming the first and only male recipient, a powerful testament to his compassion and commitment to helping others wherever he is needed.

James’s dedication to health and human service also encompasses the sciences; he earned a comprehensive accreditation from Harvard Medical School in Integrative Lifestyle and Clinical Nutrition Sciences, further broadening his expertise in wellness and nutrition.
