What was your first job as a journalist?
Won a football sticker album competition where you had to submit a match report. I was only 10 - started early!
Have you ever used a typewriter?
No - but I'd love to own one.
How is social media changing news?
Social media allows us to expose injustice more than ever before. Despite its many drawbacks, this is a huge advantage we should utilise.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Do detectives count? If so, Sherlock Holmes.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To communicate clearly what is happening and in a captivating manner.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email me and I'll do my best to respond.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
WordPress, alongside Microsoft Office and Google Trends.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram. I love witnessing the skills of photographers - although it is increasingly a video-sharing platform.
Who do you wish followed you?
Simon Hughes. Seamlessly combines writing about sport, politics and wider culture, often rooting his pieces in a location.
Why did you become a journalist?
To tell stories of heroism, politics, courage and hope.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Worked for my University paper, The Mancunion, as a Sports Correspondent.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
A story I co-authored about the treatment of British football fans at European matches, exposing historical injustice through eyewitnesses.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be persistent and always try new things.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Morning preferably, but anytime is welcome.

What's your favorite drink?
There's nothing better than a cold bottle of Sol on a sunny day.

Out with my friends or, as a typical Gen Z, watching far too much TikTok.

The Athletic. In-depth, high-quality sports journalism that you always learn from.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That it's all about clickbait.
