Countdown to 2026 Indiana Football Kickoff: 101 Days
Indiana Football is 101 days from the kickoff of the 2026 season We’re only 101 days out from toe meeting leather on September 5th when old friend QB Tayven Jackson and his North Texas Mean Green in Bloomington.
The Reactionary Take: IUFB Spring Game
Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover throws a warmup pass during IU’s spring game. Image: Olivia Smith, Hoosier Huddle The IUFB Spring Game happened! Yes! Actual Indiana Football players on the field in Memorial Stadium for the first time since November 15th, when Wisconsin was in town. I want to caveat everything I’m about to say here: All of this is to be taken with a massive grain of salt. Anyone attempting to make broad, overarching arguments from what we watched isn’t to be taken seriously.

The Reactionary Take: IUFB, National Champions
Jan 19, 2026; Miami Gardens, FL, USA; Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza (15) lifts the trophy after the College Football Playoff National Championship game against the Miami Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images I was up until 2AM just trying to come down off the thrilling 27-21 Indiana victory in the CFP National Championship Game trying to think about how to write about this run. How do you sum *this* up? Was this even real? It felt like that sc...
The Reactionary Preview, National Title Preview: #1 IUFB Vs #10 Miami
Aiden Fisher fires up his teammates prior to the Peach Bowl Image: Jasper Owens, Hoosier Huddle Well...This is it. It's still just a friggin' dream state like scenario. IUFB won 9 total games in the three seasons prior to Curt Cignetti's and has a chance to be the first 16-0 team since the Grover Cleveland administration. Another week and another name brand in Indiana's way to getting where it wants to go. This time it's the 5x champs Miami Hurricanes. The same Miami that lost at home to Louisvi...
2026 Indiana Football Roster and Depth Chart
I have added my working Google Doc to this thread so everyone can see the scholarship breakdown by class, the depth chart and all the walk ons as of this date. This will change as IU adds more players in the portal and includes the KOS from Ireland they just added.
The Reactionary Take: #1 IUFB Vs #5 Oregon
Aiden Fisher and Elijah Sarratt celebrate winning the Peach Bowl against Oregon.Image: Jasper Owens, Hoosier Huddle Wow. That's all I can really say. This team just keeps doing things that I think are possible but also in the "not probable" category. IU's 56-22 dismantling of #5 Oregon on Friday night at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta was just another feather in the cap of this team, this staff and Indiana fans everywhere. If you're tallying at home, IU is 15-0, with a chance to be the first 16-0 te...
The Reactionary Preview: #1 IUFB Vs #5 Oregon In The Peach Bowl
Jan 1, 2026; Pasadena, CA, USA; Indiana Hoosiers players celebrate on the podium after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2026 Rose Bowl and quarterfinal game of the College Football Playoff at Rose Bowl Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images IUFB is two wins away from a national title...in friggin' FOOTBALL. I just can't get over this. I predicted IU would go 9-3 and win a bowl game this year to get that out of the way. I thought they'd have some stumbles at Iowa and Oregon wh...

The Reactionary Take: #1 IUFB Vs #9 Alabama @ The Rose Bowl
Jan 1, 2026; Pasadena, CA, USA; Indiana Hoosiers running back Roman Hemby (1) runs against Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Domani Jackson (1) in the first half of the 2026 Rose Bowl and quarterfinal game of the College Football Playoff at Rose Bowl Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images I was nervous leading up to this game. Not because I thought IU would lose (I picked them to win) but it was how confident I was that IU was going to win. I had a type of confidence that had me que...
IU Reactionary Preview: The Rose Bowl
The Rose Bowl Game logo at center field as the Oregon Ducks face the Ohio State Buckeyes Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, in the quarterfinal of the College Football Playoff at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. It's finally here. IU knows it's playing Alabama in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day. I knew it wasn't going to be an easy road by any means but I kind of would have preferred to play the team who can't move the ball on offense to Alabama but here we are and I can't be more excited. IU will have h...
The Reactionary Take: Taking Stock Of IUBB?
Dec 13, 2025; Lexington, Kentucky, USA; Indiana Hoosiers head coach Darian Devries watches the action across the court during the first half against the Kentucky Wildcats at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center. Mandatory Credit: Jordan Prather-Imagn Images This is my first foray into writing about IUBB. It's a sport I've followed since well before my IU fandom. It wasn't that I couldn't write about it at my old blog...I was just always more into the lovable loser football team and their path. But ...
The Reactionary Take: IUFB Vs Ohio State
The Indiana Hoosiers celebrate following the Big Ten Conference championship game against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Dec. 6, 2025. Ohio State lost 13-10. Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti has led the greatest turnaround of a program/team/organization in the history of professional sports. I dare you to fine me another, better turnaround than most losses in the sport to the unanimous #1 team in the nation in two seasons...you won't, but try if you must. When th...
The Reactionary Preview: The B1G Title Game
Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Elijah Sarratt (13) rushes up the field Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, during the 100th annual Old Oaken Bucket game at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette. Indiana Hoosiers defeated the Purdue Boilermakers, 56-3.
The Reactionary Take: IUFB @ Purdue
Nov 28, 2025; West Lafayette, Indiana, USA; Indiana Hoosiers linebacker Aiden Fisher (4), Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Elijah Sarratt (13) and Indiana Hoosiers defensive lineman Tyrique Tucker (95) celebrate with the Old Oaken Bucket trophy after the game against the Purdue Boilermakers at Ross-Ade Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Marc Lebryk-Imagn Images 12-0.
The Reactionary Preview: IUFB @ Purdue
Indiana’s Dominique Ratcliff (91) celebrates his sack of Wisconsin’s Carter Smith (5) during the Indiana versus Wisconsin football game at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025. It’s bucket week. I have to be honest…I care much more about IU beating a conference opponent to get to 12-0 and a birth in Indianapolis for the B1G title game on December 6th than winning The Bucket.
The Reactionary Take: IUFB Vs Wisconsin
Nov 15, 2025; Bloomington, Indiana, USA; Indiana Hoosiers offensive lineman Carter Smith (65) makes a heart shape toward the student section after the game against the Wisconsin Badgers at Memorial Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Marc Lebryk-Imagn Images IUFB is 11-0 for the first time in school history with a chance to have a perfect season in two weeks in West Lafayette against Purdue. I picked IU to finish 9-3 this season. Vegas had the number at 8.5. We were both wrong.
The Reactionary Preview: IU Vs Wisconsin
Nov 8, 2025; University Park, Pennsylvania, USA; Indiana Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti looks on from the sideline during the fourth quarter against the Penn State Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Matthew O’Haren-Imagn Images We can all breathe a collective sigh of relief as IU won probably their last true huge test while battling injuries and inconsistency to get to 10-0. 10-0 people… But let’s go 1-0 this week, shall we?
The Reactionary Take: IUFB @ PSU
Nov 8, 2025; University Park, Pennsylvania, USA; An Indiana Hoosier fan celebrates following the game against the Penn State Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Matthew O’Haren-Imagn Images What a big win. It looked like IU was going to cruise a win when they went up 20-7 with 6:03 left in the 3rd quarter.
IUFB: The Reactionary Take + PSU Preview
Nov 1, 2025; College Park, Maryland, USA; Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza (15) throws during the first quarter against the Maryland Terrapins at SECU Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Tommy Gilligan-Imagn Images IU is 9-0. IU is the first team in the country to get to 9 wins this year. IU is ranked, again, #2 in the nation with a pretty strong argument to be #1 given just how good they’ve looked by utterly dismantling clearly inferior opponents.
The Reactionary Preview: No. 2 Indiana At Maryland
Indiana cheerleaders get the crowd excited before The Walk before the start of the Indiana versus Michigan State football game at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025. IU has a chance to get to 9-0 for the second time in as many years. Wild times. But, while they’re favored by more than three scores, Maryland has held leads of each of their last three games late in those games and found ways to lose. They’ve lost those games by a combined 10 points.
The Reactionary Take: IUFB Vs UCLA
Oct 25, 2025; Bloomington, Indiana, USA; Indiana Hoosiers running back Roman Hemby (1) runs for a touchdown during the first half against the UCLA Bruins at Memorial Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Robert Goddin-Imagn Images Not much more you can say about what Indiana is doing to most of it’s opponents. It’s just such a fascinating place to be where I was more worried about IU not covering the spread I bet before the game than I was them having a hiccup and losing.
The Reactionary Preview: IUFB Vs UCLA
Oct 18, 2025; Bloomington, Indiana, USA; Indiana Hoosiers linebacker Aiden Fisher (4) and Indiana Hoosiers defensive lineman Mikail Kamara (6) celebrate after a play against the Michigan State Spartans during the first half at Memorial Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Robert Goddin-Imagn Images It’s really hard to preview this game. This is a tale of two seasons for UCLA. Before DeShaun Foster and After.
The Reactionary Take: IUFB Vs Michigan State
Oct 18, 2025; Bloomington, Indiana, USA; Indiana Hoosiers offensive lineman Carter Smith (65) celebrates with the student section after the game against the Michigan State Spartans at Memorial Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Robert Goddin-Imagn Images Another week, another win. With the 38-13 win, IU moves to 7-0 and takes the #2 spot in the AP top 25 with a relatively easy win over Michigan State and also takes the Old Brass Spittoon for the second year in a row under HC Curt Cignetti.
The Reactionary Preview: IUFB Vs MSU
Oct 11, 2025; Eugene, Oregon, USA; Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza (15) prepares to throw the ball against the Oregon Ducks during the fourth quarter at Autzen Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Troy Wayrynen-Imagn Images Spittoon week, baby! Not sure how others are feeling, but I’m still riding high after IU’s big win at Oregon last weekend. I also want to stress that it wasn’t just a win. IU won by two scores on the road in Autzen and controlled the game.
The Reactionary Take: IUFB @ Oregon
Oct 11, 2025; Eugene, Oregon, USA; Indiana Hoosiers football fans cheer for their team after defeating the Oregon Ducks by the score of 30-20 at Autzen Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Troy Wayrynen-Imagn Images Wow. Just wow. I was on The Voice of College Football at Indiana podcast with Alec Keezer and Brad Loomis on Sunday AM to discuss the game and I just kept coming back to “wow”.
The Reactionary Preview: No. 7 Indiana @ No. 3 Oregon
Sep 27, 2025; Iowa City, Iowa, USA; Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Elijah Sarratt (13) breaks the tackle of Iowa Hawkeyes defensive back Deshaun Lee (8) and runs for the end zone on a 49-yard touchdown reception late during the fourth quarter at Kinnick Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images What an absolute gem we have brewing this weekend for Indiana and Oregon in Eugene. ESPN’s Game Day will be on site and the game will be the mid-afternoon game with CBS’s A crew.
The Reactionary Take: IU At Iowa
Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza (15) passes the ball against the Iowa Hawkeyes Sept. 27, 2025 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa. I never write an immediate reaction to these games because I need time to digest and watch it again. When IU beat Iowa in Kinnick on Saturday, I had an insane range of emotions that I am glad I didn’t put down on paper (digital paper, I guess).
IU Reactionary Prediction And Preview: Iowa
Before I get into the Iowa stuff, I have to address what I knew was going to happen in the college football community writ large if IU beat Illinois like they did Nebraska last year. After being told for the entire week leading up to the Nebraska game in ’24 how good Nebraska was by “very smart people” who kept saying that this would be a “real test” for Indiana, they instantly flipped once IU put belt to ass on the field. It was deja vu again this week.
The Reactionary Take On Illinois
Belt to ass. That’s the best way I can describe what took place on Saturday night in front of a national NBC audience and raucous, record crowd at Memorial Stadium as IU dominated in all facets. With IU’s 63-10 beat down of former top 10 team Illinois, Indiana jumped up another 10 spots to number 6 in ESPN’s FPI. ESPN’s model gives Indiana’s projected win total of *over* 10 wins.
The Reactionary Take: IUFB Non Con Thoughts + Illinois
I decided that I wasn’t going to really get into the Indiana State game because that was just such a beating that it’s hard to take a ton away from it. That said, I have to shout out a couple guys where I’ll give some thoughts overall on their play in the ISU game and some more macro thoughts: Cooper played the role of Waffle House against ISU.
IU Vs Kennesaw, The Reactionary Take + A Little Indiana State
I know a lot of people, including me on Twitter, we’re mad that IU had a bit of a lull in the second quarter of their 56-9 win over Kennesaw State on Saturday. They were outscored 9-7 after IU missed on a 4th down in Owl territory when it looked like a perfect spot to try Nico Radicic from inside 50. Then they came roaring to life on both sides of the ball.
IUFB Reactionary Take: Recap, Prediction And Preview
By now, if you’re reading me, you’ve probably already read a bunch of reactions to IU’s 27-14 win over Old Dominion last Saturday at Memorial Stadium. And…you’re going to want to read more because there were some important takeaways that I haven’t really seen mentioned elsewhere and I think are important in understanding the “how” of the ODU game.
IU Reactionary: Week One IUFB Prediction And Preview
It’s here, folks. National writers have made IUFB one of the main characters of the off season from (moronic) schedule discourse to the rankings but now we’re in game week for the start of the Indiana Football / Curt Cignetti 2.0. I. Can’t. Wait. If you haven’t read my Season Prediction article to let you know where I’m at with this team as they start the ’25 season, you can check that out here! I’m high on IU. Maybe not as high as some of the predictions.
2025 Indiana Football Season Prediction
Man, it’s been a long time since I’ve been this optimistic…The last time was before the 2021 season and that optimism ended with me feeling like I got kicked in the nuts about 10x in the first five minutes of the game. Since I consume a ton of media on IU, I’ve been hearing all this high praise of the team and how people think they’re going to win double digit games again. I think this is a much tougher schedule on paper than even last year.
IUFB Bold Predictions - Defense
I had to do a bold predictions article for both sides of the ball this year because of how many guys left from last years CFP team. Lots of guys returning, but also lots of guys potentially getting their first taste of major playing time. I’ll be doing each position group and today we’re focusing on defense. I will be using some advanced or PFF stats in these for positions like OL and DL because it’s hard to quantify what they do without using a grade.

Deep Sleepers In '25 For Indiana Football
We’re talking deep sleepers today… These are guys not currently on my two deep (well most of them) that I have a good feeling about. These are guys who may not contribute all that much on the field this year unless there are injuries but who I think could step in in a pinch. Many of these guys will be younger. My guess is that some of the true freshman I list below won’t see the field until games are in blowout territory or on special teams.
