Molecular Design Strategies to Enhance the Electroresponse of Polyelectrolyte Brushes: Effects of Charge Fraction and Chain Length Dispersity
Introduction Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Stimulus-responsive polymer brushes transform the properties of surfaces and create systems that respond to changes in its physicochemical environment. In this manner, these brushes extend the functionality of existing systems or even enable completely novel applications through the responsive nature of polymers.
Kinetically Controlled and Nonequilibrium Assembly of Block Copolymers in Solution
The discovery and application of synthetic polymers have revolutionized modern society. They have reduced our reliance on macroscopic materials derived from biological products such as wood and leather. Using polymers to develop new nanotechnology will cause a similar revolution in the coming decades. (1) Currently, biological-derived assemblies (made from phospholipids) are used much more frequently than polymers for exploring compartmentalization in solution at the nanoscale.

Self-Regulated and Temporal Control of a “Breathing” Microgel Mediated by Enzymatic Reaction
Naturally occurring systems have the ability to self-regulate, which plays a key role in their structural and functional adaptation. The autonomous behavior in living systems is biocatalytically controlled by the continuous consumption of energy to remain in a non-equilibrium condition. In this work, we show the construction of a self-regulated “breathing” microgel that uses chemical fuels to keep the system in the out-of-equilibrium state.
