Salsa Cycles Tributary E-Bike Review: A Great Documentary Tool – Jarrod Bunk & Spencer Harding
Two of our contributors, Spencer Harding and Jarrod Bunk, spent some time on the new Salsa Cycles Tributary gravel e-bike earlier this spring. Each used the bike to help transport themselves and camera gear while photographing various cycling events where a car would have otherwise been used. Today, we look at their first impressions and some details from Salsa‘s lineup of new 2024 e-bikes.
Mid South 2024: Ben’s Not-a-Sklar, Not-a-Tall Bike – Jarrod Bunk & Ben Witt
Tall as this bike may be it’s not a traditional tall bike, and although it was made by Adam Sklar, it’s not a traditional Sklar. Jarrod Bunk couldn’t resist getting a few snaps of Ben and his quirky not-tall bike at this year’s Mid South. Let’s take a closer look… A project that maybe wasn’t intended to see the light of day found its way to the Facebook marketplace, and the link was sent over to the homie Ben Witt.
Mid South 2024: Eva’s Liberation Fab(ulous) Gravel Ripper – Jarrod Bunk
Following up on his 2024 Mid South coverage, Jarrod Bunk is sharing a couple of the bikes from the event that most caught his eye. First up: Eva Kloiber’s Liberation Fab(ulous) Gravel Ripper. My first encounter with Eva came shortly after she relocated from Seattle, Washington, to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I’d heard that she was in the process of a special build project: working on her Ti Klunkapillar.
Love, Joy and Hope at The Mid South 2024 – Jarrod Bunk
The Mid South doesn’t need an introduction. But if you missed or, or have yet to visit Stillwater, Oklahoma, maybe you need some vicarious feels. Jarrod Bunk shares photos and words that try to capture the magic of the most inclusive event in gravel. The Mid South, now in its 12th year, has touched so many folks’ lives in ways you probably wouldn’t associate with a gravel race. But, then again racing is such a tiny part of what makes up the event.
A Bitch Of A Race: Frigid Bitch Ten – Anna-Lena Kempen & Jarrod Bunk
Don’t be alarmed by the name! Frigid Bitch is an event in Pittsburgh meant to bring together a community in the coldest, darkest time of year. Last year, Jarrod Bunk was on site, camera in hand to document the fun! We’ve got a wonderful story, penned by event promoter, Anna-Lena Kempen.

Bobby’s Wilde Bikes Dorothy: A Match Made In Oklahoma – Jarrod Bunk
Click or Tap to view Gallery View Thumbnails View Gallery We’re not in Kansas anymore. Certainly not. Unlike the hard bedrock of the flint hills and similar gravel roads that pattern the Midwest, The Mid South (or “Mud South”) hosted in Stillwater, Oklahoma is characterized by its rich red clay. Second only to race director Bobby Wintle‘s finish line hug for every rider, The Mid South has become infamous for its often wet weather that turns that beautiful red clay into drivetrain-eating mud.
Ballz’ JP Weigle Fat Tire Road Cruiser – Jarrod Bunk
I met Ballz last August while riding around Brattleboro VT. Afterward, I was welcomed back to Nutmeg Country for pizza, more group rides, and tour guiding. While there I spent the night in Ballz and Troy’s Garage, also known as the Nutmeg Country Historical Preservation Society Of Alt Cycling, or something along those lines. No, really, they had it all: everything from prototype Crust Leather Handlebars to prototype Nor’Easters.
Megan Dean’s Frame Building Class at Center for Metal Arts in Johnstown, PA – Jarrod Bunk
The Philly Bike Expo brings together folks from all over the country each year, many of whom have transformed the event into a gathering of some of the finest frame builders in the world. I’ve made a lot of friends over the years attending the show and documenting these awesome builders. While at the show in Philly, I often approach it with a mission in the back of my mind to bring good friends back to Johnstown, PA where I live. It’s a place that desperately needs more cycling culture.

Whisky’s New No9 MTN Boost LT Fork Isn’t Just Another Carbon Fork… – Jarrod Bunk
Search Terms Expand Radar By: Jarrod Bunk January 8, 2020 It’s a solution for cyclists who have a hardtail designed around a 120-130MM fork. Was it a problem worth tackling? Isn’t it stiff? How’d it fare on some east coast haunts? Read on to find out.
