Researchers may have found a previously unknown cause behind the development of pediatric cancer, which they say could enable earlier detection of the disease in young children. A team of scientists at the University of Bergen in Norway, found that children with pediatric cancer were more likely to produce autoantibodies that target several proteins needed for normal DNA repair. They also found that children with pediatric cancer had more of these antibodies even years before their diagnoses.
While GLP-1 receptor agonists, like Ozempic and Wegovy, have been heralded as miracle weight loss drugs, research has shown that as soon as patients stop using the medication, they can quickly regain lost weight. However, experts may now have found a way to reduce that weight regain.
A newly developed urine test could identify people with bladder cancer more accurately than current diagnostic methods, researchers have found. A team at Stanford University developed the uRARE-seq test, which they say will also allow physicians evaluate the impact of cancer treatment and could even help them understand which patients will respond best to different treatment options. The study was published in the journal Nature Medicine on October 2.
