While I am an active voter, having started in 1992 with my first vote in the presidential election, I’ve learned over the years different views and opinions is a healthy thing for our country. But, because he is a lifelong friend and someone who has changed very little since we graduated together 30-plus years ago, I feel compelled to write this and encourage Union County residents to support Caleb Sampson in his campaign to be your commissioner.

The Best Mondo Posters: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park
Mondo has had a huge impact on my life. As far back as I can remember, I always loved movie posters. Growing up, I’d buy posters at Suncoast or take them from my video store, and tack them to my wall. If they ripped, I’d just throw them out and get new ones. Years later, the posters of Mondo made me realize the papers hanging on my wall could be more than just decorations. They could be collectible art too, and that flipped a switch.

Jason Edmiston A fine artist and commercial illustrator since 1996, Jason Edmiston has shown his paintings in galleries, as well as worked for advertising, editorial, packaging and book publishing clients internationally. He is primarily a traditional artist, painting in acrylic on wood panel and watercolour paper, but also works digitally when the assignment calls for it.
Face Cards: King of Horror By Jason Edmiston
One of my favorite artists is Jason Edmiston. I have a bunch of his cool art adorning my office walls! I especially love his “Eyes Without a Face” prints which capture pop culture icons only by their unmistakable eyes. Today Jason posted a new piece of art via social media in which he paints on oversized 4.5” x 7” Bicycle playing cards. His latest work pays honor to the King of Horror, Stephen King appropriately painted on a King playing card.
Edmiston: How best to say thank you?
The Hermiston Police Department and city of Hermiston just concluded the 48th annual Christmas Express program. Each year since I took over in 2004 we have tried to fine tune and make the operation as efficient and effective as possible with the incredible amount of donations that come from the community. I have ensured a thank you note is sent to everyone we know to have donated money, equipment or services.
Annual Halloween Parade Set for Oct. 25
CLEARFIELD – The annual Halloween parade, which is organized by the Kiwanis Club, will be held Oct. 25 at the Clearfield Driving Park. The parade will step off at 7 p.m.; line-up will begin at 6:30 p.m. The 2016 theme is “The Secret Life of Pets.” The club hopes costumes will encompass a wide variety of characters from the movie, “A Secret Life of Pets.” There is neither any cost to participate nor registration.
Guest comment: Police chief proud to answer the call to serve
The question why is something I value dearly in our world. We hear why from our children and we hear why from people wanting to seek further enlightenment into their own understanding. We also hear why from those who have done something outside the scope of the norms and/or laws of our society. But why would anyone want to be a police officer in the society in which we live?
